Trump Under Investigation for Obstruction of Justice, James Comey Says in Testimony

Former FBI Director James Comey said he is “sure” President Donald Trump is being investigated for obstruction of justice by special counsel Robert Mueller.

Asked during his testimony Thursday before the Senate Intelligence Committee whether Trump’s request for him to drop the FBI investigation into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn constituted obstruction of justice, Comey said it wasn’t for him to make that determination. However, he did say the matter was being investigated by Mueller, who was appointed as special counsel last month to oversee the FBI’s probe into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

It is, I had to watch the video on the link to get the actual story and not their absurd spin of it. Yes, Toobin is clearly referring to Comey's statement that he's sure they are investigation possible obstruction on Trump's part.

“I don’t think it is for me to say whether the conversation I had with the president was an effort to obstruct,” Comey said. “I took it as a very disturbing thing, very concerning, but that’s a conclusion I’m sure the special counsel will work toward: to try and understand what the intention was there and whether that’s an offense.”

Non one challenged him because he was basically repeating what Comey testified to...re-read it.
That while Trump was no being actively/personally investigated "at that time", Comey had just dropped off his memos to Mueller who WOULD now be investigating possible obstruction based on that.

Out of the fire and into the frying pan (political/scandal-wise...it could very well not be something they recommend charges for)

There's no line of demarcation between a lie and the truth in american society, everything is up for shouting over now, nothing new here. And look, this was the reality long before Don came along to reap the benefits of it. Still, one should attempt to recall that Don’s foray into the political arena was based upon bitherism and accusing Ted Cruz’ father of being involved in the Kennedy assassination. So his “fake news” shtick is intuitively thin to even the most casual of observers.

Comey was directing the FBI at the time Trump made those claims, I think he knows what they are investigating. Later, Comey met with Mueller in May to give him the memos and to go over what he can and cannot say.

Under oath, given the above, and given his reputation, a "Sure" from Comey is going to Trump the Trumpster. It's not fake news, it's what Comey under oath claims. If you want to find COUNTER evidence, be my guest. That's how things work, you can't just deny it without in kind evidence or better.

I get crazy when I see Breitbart, gets the better of me.

Maybe. Maybe not. Comey and the other briefed senior FBI leaders may have suspected Trump was trying to intimidate Comey into dropping the Flynn investigation, but the actual firing when he refused may have just confirmed their suspicions, giving them cause to open an investigation. That is assuming an investigation has actually been opened.
