Sounds a lot like this Russian story, ya think?
Not a bit.
Just off the top of my head.
We have actually confirmed that meetings took place between campaign officials and Russian officials and the campaign originally denied that these took place. To date there is no confirmation of any meeting between Seth Rich and any Wikileaks people.
We have confirmed that people in the Trump administration have lied about what they have told to Russian officials and we have even had a national security advisor fired/resign over the dishonesty. There have been no lies brought forth to date in the Seth Rich case (other than right wing conspiracy theories which have been shown to be false and since retracted).
US intelligence agencies have confirmed Russia did run a campaign to get Trump elected/to make Hillary lose. This was an extremely aggressive campaign including fake news, internet trolls, russian media, creating talking points etc. which falls in line with other attempts made by Russia on other elections in the world.
We have confirmed that people in the Trump administration did not disclose money received from foreign governments that are close to Russia.
The FBI has deemed that an investigation is required on the Trump Russia story and not on the Seth Rich story by all accounts.
Took me all of five seconds to think this up.
No, we don't have any public direct evidence of any Trump-Russia collusion. But we have tons of facts that just don't make sense and would appear incredibly odd to any bystander. This mixed with the fact that Trump has spoken with the FBI director about letting this investigation go, that Trump has been less transparent than any modern administration, that the treasury department is currently stalling requests by congress for information, the republican in charge of leading the investigation in the house made an absolute mockery of the congress by trying to divert attention and did such a poor job of it he had to step aside. etc.
My stance on this is simple. Appoint a special counsel who is above reproach and highly regarded as above board (done) and let him investigate privately. Give him all the info. If he finds no wrongdoing, then so be it. If he determines this was a witch hunt, then make that be publicly known. If he thinks that the trump campaign behaved stupidly but did nothing illegal then also let that be known. I will gladly 100% stand behind any assessment that Mueller makes.
