Bob Beckel Fired Again!

I never understood why they hired him back.

I do. As the OP's link mentions, Beckel often played "the role of the crusty old uncle to the conservative whippersnappers." He's had a rough time of it medically, and I enjoyed his contrarian opinions. But since he's been back, and especially the last couple of weeks, he's seemed very angry. He's muttered soto voce to Jesse Waters more than once.

The good news is that Juan Williams has always been a good fit for "The Five."

Sotto voce (Italian: [ˈsotto ˈvoːtʃe], literally "under the voice") means intentionally lowering the volume of one's voice for emphasis. The speaker gives the impression of uttering involuntarily a truth which may surprise, shock, or offend.

What did he say? Was it racial? Sexist? Just Yankee level smartass rude? What does insensitive mean in this particular instance?

He said he was leaving the room because the computer tech was black. It's weird. To say the least.

Seriously? Got a link? I can believe that, but, just, damn...

"Bob Beckel was terminated today for making an insensitive remark to an African-American employee," a spokesperson said in a statement.

"Mr. Beckel stormed out of his office when our client, a black IT employee came to service his computer, telling our client that he was leaving his office because he is black," Wigdor said in a statement. "To make matters worse, after our client lodged a complaint about Mr. Beckel's racist behavior, Mr. Beckel, in front of Chief Human Resource Officer Kevin Lord, attempted to intimidate our client and persuade him to withdraw his complaint."

When the IT worker refused to back down to Beckel, Fox "leaked the story on a Friday to minimize the attention drawn to Mr. Beckel's racist behavior."

Right or wrong at least the sources and principles are named.

Thanks for the link.

Regarding your comment about sources and principles: The 6th Amendment usually doesn't mean anything to the press, which in my opinion, should apply to the press as equally as it does the government due to the press having special protections in the 1st Amendment - Confrontation Clause also referred to as the Right to Know Your Accusers.

also referred to as the Right to Know Your Accusers.

I can see your point there. The "drive by media" can too easily show up, Dump a bunch of incorrect crap and drive off leaving others to deal with the aftermath.

Its happened several times this week alone.

The downside of this is that we will get more Juan Williams. Beckel is far more entertaining.

I'm no fan of Beckel, but is it possible he was just joking? I mean, if the guy cant even be in the same room as a black man, you would think this would have come out before now. The guy has been around forever.

Nah. He was let go because he lied outright about it.

Not at all surprised you don't understand that reality.

He lied about it? How? If I remember right, he said on air what he claimed 'sources' had told him. If he made up the story, that would be a lie. If the sources were lying and he repeated it thinking it was true, that wouldn't make him a liar.

Having the full story might be nice. The he said she said stuff is over the top lately. I can see management not wanting to fiddle with any of it and cut him loose rather than looking into it.
The atmosphere is such that an accusation is all you need for a story to hit a good cycle.

In the other hand he reportedly did apologize and no actual racism can or should be tolerated. There is no room for that in a modern society with common goals.

I wonder what exactly was wrong with his computer.
