As an example of how absolutely insane the opposition media is with regard to Trump I offer this Politico piece from December -

Trump's driver's license casts doubt on height claims

Now, seriously, how freaking biased do you have to be to put a story like this on your site? I could see this on DailyKos or Slate or something but Politico holds themselves out to be a legitimate news source.

Who cares but I thought he wanted it maximized so his weight to height would be better.
Like his short fingers, Don brought it up

Heck anything to smear or accuse or attack the President personally and avoid actually reporting anything that is actually happening. Due to age induced vertebra compression, most people from their mid 60's on will lose 1 to 3 or 4 inches from their maximum height, but they don't bother changing the information on their driver's license. And only the most dedicated nit picking snowflakes would care about that one whit.

Reminds me of how the MSM had no dirt on Marco Rubio so they ran a story about how He had two traffic violations in 20 years or something. That pales in comparison to the petty criticism lobbied at Trump but when the MSM sets their sights on someone, any molehill becomes Mount Everest.

This would ordinarily be harmless minutia, except for the fact that:

1] Trump has a history of lying, too the point of it being a defining trait.

2] Trump volunteered the information, and pushed it out to the media.

3] It fits the established narrative (he's a liar), and supports and corroborates it.

My suggestion would be to not criticize the messenger, as much as evaluate the facts.

Most of what is being squawked about is like this.

Do you just not understand what bias is or something? If Trump, and his doctor both stated that he's one height, but his drivers license says he's a different height this report is stating a fact. His drivers license does cast doubt on what he said his height was.

Now, you can argue that this is small potatoes with respect to the thousands of other bold faced lies that Trump has told, but it's not bias, it's a fact.

The fact is that men lying about their height is extremely common, almost expected.

It might simply be a rounding factor (error?) - I am over 5' 8" but not quite 5' 9" yet my DL says 5' 8" - which is the correct way to express my height using only feet and inches?

The many times that I have applied for a driver's license, I fill out the form. No one double checks my height, weight, eye color or any other description that is asked for on the application.

I concur that this is not worth pursuing, but is NY that strict.? I've never been double-checked......

The facts are between the slew of more important stories, the media is choosing to report harmless minutia and portray it as a cataclysm. Those are the facts as you have acknowledged.

I have been reporting my height at a certain height all my life. Less than a year ago I found out I had been 'lying' as you may define it for some time as I am no longer that height--possibly because of age but certainly because of two compression fractures in my back that I had no idea had reduced my height.

A lie does not make a person a liar if the person believes they are telling the truth. I have a whole lot less problem with Trump thinking out loud, including unimportant errors that we all no doubt commit from time to time, than I have with the media putting out headlines that are flat out lies and never retracting the information, or if they do it is in a way that few would ever see the retraction.

Most of the stuff the media has reported as "Trump lies" have turned out not to be lies at all.

That the President of the US believes what comes out of his mouth is the really scary part of all this!

So far I haven't had much problem with it. I do wish he was a bit more diplomatic and/or judicious about it, but I didn't vote for him to be proper and diplomatic. I voted for him as our last hope to actually get some good things done. So far he hasn't disappointed me on that.

What the snowflakes, partisans, and numbnuts are believing re the deliberate false narrative the media has been putting out is far scarier to me than anything Trump has said.

LOL given the so call birther issue that Trump was a main spoke person for over years neither he or his supporters have any ground to complain about silliness aim at him.

That's about the size of it. I don't have any problems with policy so far but I sure wish he'd figure out how to be less emotional in his presentation.

But he is who he is, so if he doesn't change in that regard I still won't regret my vote. He pretty much says it as he sees it, and despite the current best-way-to-smear-Trump talking points is to say over and over and over that he is a liar, I would rather have somebody like him who says what he thinks than somebody who actually is deliberately lying.

I agree. Trump isn't a politician by any stretch and definitely isn't practiced in in that kind of diplomacy.

I've got a guy in one of the organizations I belong to who constantly gets freaked out when I suggest stuff like having Tommy Chong come in to give us a tax presentation on marijuana shops. I'm just saying it as a joke but his brain, I guess, doesn't work that way and he starts to panic. I think some of the "Never Trump" folks also have that issue though it's possible that some of them have it deliberately instead of accidentally.

Yes, just like the lie that is still being repeated by high level people who should know better is that Trump asked the Russians to hack Hillary's e-mails. I remember that comment very well. . .there were rumblings about the e-mail leaks coming from the Russians and he quipped, clearly as a joke to any normal person, something to the effect that hey, maybe the Russians could find those 30,000 missing e-mails. Go for it. And the distortion of that has persisted ever since.

I remember Reagan one time doing a sound check before a broadcast quipping, "We begin bombing in five minutes." He practically started a panic on Capitol Hill. I have a relative who seems to have no normal sense of humor at all, and we have to be very careful not to use a phrase like "Somebody ought to hang him" or "He needs a good swift kick in the butt" because this relative will take it as us intending violence every single time.

Trump just has to have his fun, and these no humor partisans are so much fun to play with.

Trump is having the time of his life.

He deserves it.

45's doctor pointed out that his height was 6'2'' not 6'3'' after proclaiming he was the fittest person to ever run for POTUS.

I'm thinking everyone over 40, let alone 60, continue to consider themselves to be as tall as they were in their 30s.

Amen, nothing came out of hillarys mouth that did not look like she had not rehearsed it in the mirror, a thousand times!
