Trump's unintelligible AP Interview

[long]

After watching Trump's speech last night, here's the deal:

This clown in the White House never intended to be President. He did a PR stunt, and after a few weeks, thanks to the dumbing down, naiveté, and desperation of a sub-sector of the American public, he rose to his party's top in the polls. Then through narcissism and megalomania, he said to himself, "LOL, I could do this! They'll believe anything!" Actually, he already knew the gullibility of some sectors of the American public due to his Birther lies success, but I still suspect he didn't know the entirety of it or believe it would propel him into office when he first started-out! That's why he had no campaign, no infrastructure, no platform, no funding. Nothing! It was a P.R. stunt!

Consequently, in office now he is completely unfit and incapable intellectually and in personal qualities to execute the office. He is a reality star over his head! Completely. He breaks protocols, traditions, and decency under the ruse of "being an agent of change". However it is nothing but a facade to hide his lack of capability. His non-supporters see through it. The press sees through it. Much of the rest of the world sees through it. Even the GOP establishment sees through it! The last are especially cognizant of political charade and the P.T. Barnum effect, since they cultivated it in their followers for their own nefarious needs - only to have one with more charisma and even more charade abilities usurp their easily-brainwashed followers from them! They built the foundation for Trump's house!

And due to all of the above, Trump can't exist in the normal world of reality. He must remain secluded within his own circle-jerk which he fostered, reinforcing to them his painted picture of irreality, admonishing them that all outside their sphere is fake. And because he preys on the desperate, uneducated, and naive, he succeeds. But if he steps out of his bubble, he gets immediately called-out and taken to task. His only response is to attack back claiming, "you're fake!".

This might be best exemplified by his dodging the Correspondent's Dinner for the safety of his own arena, where when a non-supporter speaks-up, rather than interact with his fellow American he brazenly shouts "get them out of here" to the cheers of his minions, no different than when he shouted "lock her up" to his political opponent during the campaign. Now in absolute power, he treats his fellow Americans who disagree with him in like manner as all his other "opponents" throughout his life.

He believes and shouts that we Americans are the enemy. I'm beginning to agree with him here. I take him at his word. I believe he is my enemy, not my President. He's said as much. Just last night. It's shockingly sad to say that, and as one who has a strong love for America and the Constitution that defines her - I never imagined in my wildest dreams I could ever say that. But that's what it's come to.

I find Trump a thoroughly disgusting, despicable, hate-filled, narcissistic, megalomaniac man. I for one, intend to resist him. I hope more of my fellow citizens do the same. He clearly hates us. We need to take him at his word. And we need to not lay-back this next election. He barely scraped-by in 2016, and it wouldn't take much to get him the hell out of office. Let's do it! Let's end the insanity!

TL;DR Trump hates us it's time to get him out of office

Trump skipped the dinner and ran to his safe space - in alt-world.

Mostly right.

These are disturbing times, to include deciding that the man the people sent to the Oval is the enemy.

We must relearn how to do this better.
I can fully respect this post. I know you mean this in good faith, and I accept it as such.

But what do we do with the man that calls us his enemy, Hawkeye?

And the man that called the former President illegitimate, for all those years?

What do we do about him?

You generally don't treat the symptoms, you treat the diseases. We need to improve communication, we need to teach folks why we must try to work together, and we need to get smart enough to design solutions that work.

I current do not believe America will be ready to do that till either the next depression visits, or we are humiliated on the battlefield.

trump should be tweeted as he tweets others. trump should be treated by the DEMs as Obama was by the GOPs. trump should be treated by the liberal media as Obama was by the conservative media.

For elections, DEMs are using REDMAP 2010 and the updated REDMAP 2020 to guide them in data mining, especially using presidential vote by CD, SD and HD to identify weak GOP opponents. DailyKos is doing a great job of this, as I'm very sure GOPs are aware.

Shore up your own state legislatures, running as good a candidate as you can in EVERY election. Time for DEMs to bring on the Ossoff millenial generation, as well as the Generation Xers.

For instance, it's been miserable to see DEMs down 66-34 in the upcoming VA state house this November, no senate until 2019, horribly gerrymandered maps, where DEMs didn't have a candidate in 44 races in 2015, GOPs 27 also. Of the 50 out of 100 SHs Clinton won in VA in 2015, DEMs lost 17 of Clinton's, including 5 with no candidate .

These are nice generalities, but what do we do about The President calling many of us his enemy?

Why should we respect or accept that?

As Vanity Fair notes: The transcript has to be read to be believed.

  • Donald Trump calls NATO “obsolete” because he didn’t know what NATO was
  • Donald Trump unsure what cable news shows he watches
  • Donald Trump is... (unintelligible):lamo
  • Donald Trump says “somebody” put out his 100 day plan
  • Trump immediately forgets how many missiles he fired at Syria
  • Trump says border wall will actually be much cheaper, unless he does a “super duper”:lamo
  • Trump falsely says he didn‘t know what WikiLeaks was until 2016
  • Trump thought the press would start being nicer to him after the election
  • Trump brags about best ratings since 9/11. The Only thing he cares about!
The Most Jaw-Dropping Moments from Trump?s A.P. Interview | Vanity Fair

So now... RWNJs who support Trump would say that this is AP out to get Trump, that they purposefully edited out Trump answers they didn't like. The thing with that though is that if that happened. Trump would have definitely pointed it out, #dishonestAP or something similar. The interview happened a week ago and Trump hasn't bashed them yet. So let's ignore the fact that Trump agreed to this interview and the fact that he apparently didn't even know about half the things he was running on. Why wouldn't Trump go after them since it makes him look bad?

https://apnews.com/c810d7de280a47e88848b0ac74690c83

Depressingly hilarious. The dude is just a straight up joke.

These are nice generalities, but what do we do about The President calling many of us his enemy?

Why should we respect or accept that?

I argue that we should not accept or respect that, I say that we should object, and if we feel strongly enough about it not vote for people who do it. I also say that we should do the same with people who do it with Trump, which is a lot of people, especially at the top of the food chain. See the problem here is that so many people who claim up and down that they are so much better than Trump in fact at as bad or worse than Trump.

Trump is doing it wrong, but who in Washington can we point to and say that they are dong it right? How many people at DP or anywhere stand up and object to the bad work being handing in without favor to their favorite players in the partisan wars these cats play rather than working together to get the work done? How many Americans are willing to work together?

"The polarization of Washington reflects the divisions of our country," Republican Sen. Susan Collins said during a joint interview with Independent Sen. Angus King on Sunday's "Meet The Press."
.
.
"the rise of ideologically-driven groups on both the left and the right who are requiring 100 percent compliance with 100 percent of their views 100 percent of the time, and the threat for members if that if they don't comply, they will face a well-funded primary opponent."
Collins and King: Divides in Washington Reflect Divisions in America - NBC News

Sure that is the situation now, but how did we get here? I say it was because starting over 50 years ago the people we sent to Washington increasingly have failed to do their jobs well, they have played partisan games instead of being profession and competent, they have encouraged the nation to like that that and to not demand better, and over time allowed the rot to set in so strong that the place is completely corrupted with money.

The solution: The nation has to demand better, better than Trump, and better than the rest of them. Between the White House and Congress and Scotus there are maybe a few dozen people who are worthy of the great nation America used to be.

We need to change that, and fast.

Americans are unwilling.

So we get crap.

Many like it.

Too many.

Trump is reaping exactly what he has sown.

When he stops allowing his massive ego to speak, his life will get better.

I don't think, though, that he is capable of even a slight amount of humility.

Very honest post. Kudos.

I agree with this.

Hopefully all he ends up being is the GOPs useful, idiot. At least I can live with that, but it's only been a month and he's already complaining about how hard the job is. So I am not sure how long that will last.

To me trump and the GOP are inseparable.

We are oinkin' from the boinkin'.

You know what would be really nice? If we here at DP could get ourselves organized to do it right. I think we do better than the crap we see all around us, but there is a hell of a lot of room for improvements. .

Excellent post Hawkeye, and I very much agree. Thanks for taking the time out to write it.

The only point where I disagree, is I blame Trump for playing the game as President. Obama took a lot of ****, a real lot including from Trump, but for the most part he stayed above the fracas and acted reasonably Presidential. He wasn't perfect, but he seemed to try and set the tone.

Trump on the other hand is not just an active participant in the pissing contest, but he instigates it and brings it to new levels. It's this quality about Trump that probably bothers me as much as any. It seemed Obama tried to bring us up, while Trump tries to bring us down. To the mud.

But yeah, I agree with you here. Trump is the utmost incarnation of what's been brewing for several decades. Except he's uniquely different: He is relatively party independent. And we have yet to see if that's good or bad. It should be good. But he also could end up plundering us.

Trump is reaping exactly what he has sown.

Exactly.

When you label fellow Americans as your enemy, and gin-up your base to think of them as enemies, you've *made* enemies! Whether they were, or not! :doh

Sadly, unintelligible sounds pretty good to me because when he says things intelligibly, what comes out is usually fake, false, lies, hate mongering, more lies, divisive crap, unbalanced attack against journalism and lies (I mention lies three times because he clearly loves to lie or else he would not spend so much time doing it.

Just look at the unbalanced diarrhea of the mouth that he spewed out to the world yesterday instead of being a real man and taking his ridicule at the correspondents dinner, I wished half of that would have been unintelligible because that would have been a marked improvement upon what he actually said.

Okay, so among other things he is a little unintelligible. And massively ignorant. And subject to mercurial policy reversals. And an inveterate liar. But in fairness I think we have to look at his record of accomplishments. Witness his stunning success in shepherding his 100 Day Action Plan through Congress. Admittedly, one controlled by his own party, but still...

Unintelligible might be a state we should embrace so he would not be so ignorant (well, he would remain as ignorant as ever but at least we would not understand it due to it being unintelligible).

Where's the video of the interview?

Since it was an AP interview, there's probably just an audio recording and a transcript, only.

Carlton Tucker did a piece where he claimed the same as I: Trump's Presidency was initially a P.R. ploy. But he goes further by stating that Trump really didn't want to be President, but rather he was drafted by the American people (referring to Trump's supporters).

There may be some truth in that.

"Carlton, Tucker" :lamo

Since it was an AP interview, there's probably just an audio recording and a transcript, only.

So then where's the audio? It's a bit strange that the AP and the rest of the MSM is willing to label Trump all these things without letting the people decide. It's not the media's job to tell people what to think, the media's job is to stick with the facts. The media have abdicated their responsibility to inform and somehow believe it's their duty to make their opinion the new truth.

There sure are a lot of people jealous that Trump won the election.

I just realized, there's a "Renoe" and a "Renae". I won't mix you up again. In any event, I don't think, "jealous" is the correct term. "Shocked", maybe. Some folks are frightened. I think the only "jealous" folks are the "Lyin Ted", "Low Energy Jeb", "Little Marco", and the other folks that ran against Trump in the primary.

You know what would be really nice? If we here at DP could get ourselves organized to do it right. I think we do better than the crap we see all around us, but there is a hell of a lot of room for improvements. .

Ayup.

Most of the group here is politically astute compared to the general population.

There is synergy to be had when working together.

Exactly.

When you label fellow Americans as your enemy, and gin-up your base to think of them as enemies, you've *made* enemies! Whether they were, or not! :doh

Yup. The bull**** machismo needs to go.

He is just acting like a bully.

Umm.. I think AP, the one that conducted the interview only posted the transcript reporting what Trump said. It was Vanity Fair that did the opinion piece on the AP interview. You realize magazines, as well as newspapers are allowed to publish opinion pieces, right?
