Patriots call out 'New York Times' for White House photo tweet: 'Lacks context'

That's irrelevant to the point, but I'm not the least bit surprised the point went over your head. Should I say it slower and with more finger waving?

Did you read my post? Or was there not enough finger wagging and slow talking for you?

No...we got the point you were making, it wasn't complicated or nuanced. It was mere partisan BS and that was pointed out with a simple little factual commentary.

But by that same metric, lots of people don't seem to care at all about lies when it's coming from Trump and his administration. The NYT was dishonest in this instance, but Donald Trump and his team acted similar, back when the inauguration attendance controversy was going on.

The Times wasn't dishonest. Amandola and Brady didn't attend. Fewer players did attend than when Obama was President. And just like when Bush or anyone else was President, some players did skip it for personal reasons.

Dishonest would mean stating things that are lies. The pictures were different, and the reason is the staff not being in this year's picture. But they didn't say anything dishonest, as they have been known to do about any number of issues, just like our President lies when it suits him. They didn't say "only 12 players showed up" or "Danny Amandola didn't show up because he thinks Trump is a big fat idiot" or "3000 people were bussed into NH on election day".

I'm saying dishonest in terms of misleading. Putting those pictures together and trying to make a side-by-side comparison was misleading on NYT's part, because it makes it seem like the staff wasn't there at all.

How many people do you think looked at the picture from the Obama visit and counted the people in the picture, or said "Oh I wonder how many of them are players and how many of them are workers for the organization?", or how many people would even have cared?

When Brady declined the visit during the Obama days, it was reported on then. When he declined it during the Trump days, it was reported on.

The Times trolled the master troll here, who had aneurysms trying to produce side by side pictures about the size of his crowds at rallies and the inauguration. And the Times provoked a response from Trump. They trolled him brilliantly, just as he trolls them.

But there wasn't any dishonesty because they didn't say or imply why the difference in those pictures. They did it to get Trump and his fan base worked up. And it worked.

That is the problem with getting your news from tweets. The actual story linked in the tweet did provide context. But the NYT knows most people will share the tweet without actually reading the article.
So the NYT was being dishonest in tweeting the pictures without context? The answer is yes.
And it didn't take long for CNN and MSNBC to share the same pictures in their news coverage without context. The picture taken in 2015 had 40 some staffers in the picture with the players. This year they were sitting in the audience. But they failed to make that distinction in their reporting
There were two less Patriots at the WH this past Wed. than a year ago when Obama was President. It is crap like this that feeds the fake news mantra.

The Patriots aren't very happy with the New York Times right now. If you follow Donald Trump on Twitter, then you probably know that one of his favorite things to do on the social media site is to call out the New York Times for their "#FakeNews." If you don't follow him on Twitter, well, then just trust me, it's one of his favorite things to do.
Trump must've inspired the Patriots because the NFL team also called out the Times following the team's visit to the White House on Wednesday .

The more this crap happens, the more I distrust the media. Why they continue to do this when they have been called out on it is beyond me. Give it up already and just report factual news,

A picture is worth a thousand words. Two pictures? Make it two thousand words.

The delegations were about the same number, but only 34 players showed up for Trump vs. 51 for Obama. But who gives a flying ****?

You are right when you say that the NYT can't stand Trump, but you miss the real issue, which is why the NYT chooses to do a story on this instead of the real story about Russia sending massive amounts of troops to their border with North Korea, in preparation for a possible WWIII scenario. The story here shouldn't be about fake news, which this is not, but about poorly chosen news, which the NYT is certainly guilty of, due to it's dislike of Trump. This crap from them is fluff, which was chosen instead of real news, and it has now become yet another fake and distracting issue from what really matters. The Gray Lady has become senile, and Trump seems to be carrying her water with his poorly chosen tweet storms, which keep silly controversies like this alive..

So the liar-in-chief and perhaps the most crooked major sports franchise are calling the media fake - again?

Seems to me the media is doing it's job! :2razz:

Trump called the NYTimes 'enemy of the people'? Among other many, MANY names.

Gee I wonder why the NY Times doesn't like Trump.

He's the one who declared war on the media, of course not all the media. Not on the Conservative outlets, those he coddles and even hires some of their people, but he's started a war with the rest of the media. The Trump supporters love when he takes shots at them, but when the media fights back they whine and cry just like their leader. What a bunch of wussies.

Yup, this. Right on down to the very last line. Trump declared war on the Times, they bit, and now the Trump devotees are pouting and whining about it.
