. . . is because THIS is what passes, more and more, as accepted mainstream journalist behavior. This isn't just some nobody; she's a correspondent for NPR, PBS NewsHour, NBC News, and other very mainstream sources.

(That's without getting into the ironic juxtaposition.)

And she's hardly the only example.

When the keepers of the conversation drag it into the gutter, the entire national conversation follows.

Yes, two twitter posts, that were clearly meant to be casual, are evidence of how low American politics have fallen.

This is next level cherry picking and just intellectually lazy.

Must be a different Xeni Jardin....

The OP looks fake. The dates, the number of shares, likes, her photo, etc....nothing fits.

Fakes like the OP is why the national discourse is screwed up.

Oh, dear. Look what I found on the link you provided:

Does she know that she told the world she was raped with that insult?

That's the same account -- @xeni. Why do the dates, number of shares/likes and her photo make it fake?

Just look at all her tweets they usually have way more likes and shares than in the photo.

Also it's easy to fake a tweet by altering the code and it still looks genuine when you embed it.

The screenshot is a still photo -- it's not going to keep adding in the retweets and likes as they come in. Besides, the tweet still exists on the account link that Moot provided.

I was really talking about the 2nd tweet that's 8 years old on a verified account that has 6 likes and no retweets. Pretty much anyone could post that same tweet and get more likes much less from a verified account. I'm on my mobile so I don't have the ability to pull her full history of tweets but on the surface it doesn't look right, that's all I was saying.

What I've learned over the last year - twitter is for twits.:roll:

Again, it depends on when the screenshot was taken. The retweets and likes that occurred after the screenshot aren't going to magically jump into a still photo.

It's no different from this forum or anywhere else in terms of stupid people talking. Twitter also has an abundance of intelligent debate and is the first place breaking news is announced.

Here are some more jewels from her. She seems obsessed with calling conservative men rapists.

What I've learned over the last year - twitter is for twits.:roll:

Since Twitter is media, I'll trace it back to 1960, the first media election, the election that Nixon felt was stolen and probably changed him forever; a lot can be learned by anyone by just seeing how the EC has changed every election since then, when I was 7-yo and my Dad was still stationed overseas in Morocco.

1964 had a dead JFK from 1963, the daisy girl ad, the GOP civil war; as TV grew,

Then came civil rights and voting rights and the changing of the parties in 1968, Chicago convention, RFK and MLK Jr, Nixon's southern strategy and his interference in the peace talks; this is where we as a nation start to disagree vehemently on the spin of events;

The division over the Vietnam War of which my Dad did multiple TDYs to, doing supply and escorting fallen soldiers to their families leading into Nixon's 1972 election and Watergate--again, a continual division every 4 years;

Chapaquidick Kennedy challenging his sitting president, allowing Reagan to win, just my view; while GHWB was secretly negotiating with Iran;

Reagan's near assassination, causing him to change forever toward the religious right; Reagan broke the streak of presidents dying in office if elected in a year ending in zero going back to 1840;

tax cuts in 1983, starting the 20 trillion TAD; the start of the 2nd gilded age; outspending the Soviet Union; Iran-contra and Ollie North;

Read my lips, Ross Perot allowing Clinton into office, the 1994 elections allowing Gingrich in; WJC's impeachment, 1999 as the beginning of the end of the senate with blocking judicial appointments;

Bush v. Gore; Nadir; 9/11; Iraq 2; etc. etc. etc.

My obvious point is that every uptick in technological advances of the media, such as the Internet, has only served to increase the division of the two sides in this country where people's beliefs flip-flop depending on whether their side is in office.

And yes, I am an American Air Force brat first and a mod/con DEM on the issues second .

So Clinton did her mom?

I'm not quite as old as you, but I've been working in tech since the 80's. I thought back in the 90's when things really got going with the internet and high speed datacom people would get smarter very quickly with so much info readily available to them. Some did - the ones that used the technology wisely. Sadly, most just used it to reinforce their bubble worlds.

Those are hardly the only two examples, and the checkmark indicates she's acting in the capacity of her public self.

But if you think American politics is at a high level of discourse, I'd be curious as to what you're drinking.

They're real tweets. If someone feels the need to deny them because they don't want it to be true, let them. Voluntary ignorance is a personal choice. So be it.

Hardly anyone was on Twitter 8 years ago.

Because people change their profile photos sometimes.

Obvious to anyone with any sense.

Never mind that the part that matters - the actual tweet - matches.
