Trump basically epitomizes the Tea Party, and their viewpoints, including their message of anger and hate. Remember the formation of the Tea Party, from a few small gatherings, and then FOX News took over...

It was unprecedented for a major news station to organize protests around the country, and to actually send representatives to major cities, as keynote speakers. Rupert Murdoch actually stepped in, and pulled the reporters back to the home base. I don't think he did this because the campaign was unsuccessful. On the contrary, it was overly successful, and the Tea Party threatened to rival the Republican Party.

A triple whammy, you got to attack Trump and Fox news in a single post. Congrats. Is the guy in the lower left Glenn Beck?

You bet it is, and the OP isn't wrong. The Tea Party, on a national level, was completely a creation of the "fair and balanced" cable network, and nobody remembers or cares.

Did you also notice how little violence, destruction and disruption the Tea Party was, especially compared to the left's paid and unpaid goon squads currently? We know who, from which side the real haters are, its the side that sicced the IRS on ideological opposition groups illegally.

Considering that a CNBC reporter started the tea party.... that fact that nobody remembers Fox starting it is probably the same reason nobody remembers the Bowling Green massacre.

That's not how I remember it

The tea party was holding spontaneous rallys all over America and the liberal news media was simply ignoring them

Fox didnt

And so the liberal media conspiracy of silence failed

If you haven't noticed, BOTH political parties are obsolete.

The light has been shined on the cockroaches running the parties and the public has been justifiably horrified.

The media elites are working hard to return things to the old normal by re-arranging the chairs on this sinking Titanic, but the plan is flawed and the goal is unattainable. There is suddenly a way to see the "man behind the curtain" and the devious methodology in use and the public loves their new-found access.

The folks who go to work everyday and pay taxes and coach little league have a general position on things.

Then there are the others who burn the cars and break the windows and shout down reasonable discussion and they have a different take on things.

Murdoch was ethical in reining in the participation of his anchors in the direction of the exercise of political speech.

The other network chieftains should do the same.

Rick Santelli Delivers a Message

A Brief History of the Tea Party

Shortly after his inauguration in January of 2009, President Obama began pushing the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, a package costing close to $1 trillion. Already infuriated with the final years of the Bush administration that saw multibillion dollar bailouts and payoffs, conservative outrage of the fiscal insanity was escalating rapidly. After the package passed, CNBC personality Rick Santelli took to the airwaves to deliver what would be the final spark to ignite the tea party flames.

In what turned out to perfectly summarize tea party sentiment, Santelli took to the floor of the Chicago Stock Exchange and stated "the government is promoting bad behavior... This is America! How many of you people want to pay for your neighbor's mortgage that has an extra bathroom and can't pay their bills? Raise their hand."
When the floor traders started booing the government policies, Santelli dropped the "President Obama, are you listening?" line.

In the rant, Santelli also stated that "We're thinking of having a Chicago Tea Party in July. All you capitalists that want to show up to Lake Michigan, I'm gonna start organizing." The clip was widespread, and the first tea party rallies were held eight days later on February 27th, 2009, where tens of thousands of protesters showed up in over 50 cities to voice opposition to the Bush and Obama spending sprees.

Did you also notice how little violence, destruction and disruption the Tea Party was, especially compared to the left's paid and unpaid goon squads currently? We know who, from which side the real haters are, its the side that sicced the IRS on ideological opposition groups illegally.

You're telling me that Tea Party rallies were non-violent. Samuel Warde was a filmmaker who chose to focus on the Tea Party. In this video, you'll see the hate and violence at Tea Party rallies. At one point, you see Warde and the camera retreating after a physical threat from an individual. Note: It gets more viral and violent, as the video progresses.

A Brief History of the Tea Party

The catalyst for what would become known as the Tea Party movement came on February 19, 2009, when Rick Santelli, a commentator on the business-news network CNBC, referenced the Boston Tea Party (1773) in his response to Pres. Barack Obama's mortgage relief plan.

Following a February 19, 2009 call by CNBC reporter Rick Santelli on the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange for a "tea party,"over fifty conservative activists agreed by conference call to coalesce against Obama's agenda and scheduled series of protests, including the 2009 Taxpayer March on Washington. Supporters of the movement subsequently have had a major impact on the internal politics of the Republican Party.

Santelli's rant may have been the sperm in the egg, but Fox carried that baby to term, to the point where its hosts were advertising upcoming rallies. This is incontrovertible fact.

The early rallies were over-inflated in terms of numbers. FOX News took over from there. Between April 6 and April 15 of 2009, FOX aired at least 107 commercials for Tea Party rallies. I would call this UNFAIR and UNBALANCED.

Wow, because I remember reports of it all over the place before St. Rupert decided to capitalize on it.

gotta love Glenn Beck; fueled by cocaine & copious amounts of alcohol ................. nearly reminds me of Rush Limbaugh; fueled by Oxycodone ...........

Perhaps the reason is the Tea Party was more an invention from the top down. Faux noise instead of the man in the street. I love how the alt-right crowd claims 'lefties' can be so organized and paid for when I guess the Koch brothers couldn't bribe more than a few social security types to disrupt town hall meetings- "get the gubmint out of our lives but don't touch my medicare!!!!"

I recall many in the Tea Party ranting about blood of tyrants and posters with AR's on them and talk of the 2nd A to take back 'our' gubmint. I guess the Tea party has more timid goon squads... :peace

You really don't understand what happened! Your view is from a highly partisan mind set. You have absolutely no clue about the tea party.
You seem to be full of rage and hate? If you want unfair and unbalanced just look at CNN and MSNBC and then throw in ABC, CBS, NBC and the Washington Post and of course the highly partisan NYT! A group that is truly pushing an agenda!!

I think it might be dangerous to give Republicans facts. They seem to be allergic. I'm afraid their heads might explode if they are presented with the truth. That's why they are so unwilling to learn facts as opposed to their alternative facts, which they prefer.

Does that mean CNN helped create Black Lives Matter? Incontrovertible fact is not just a stretch its outright false. Fox news talked about it because it was news. Yes, it reflected their viewpoint but then again, other news media is doing that very thing now with liberal issues, but you consider that to just be news, I'm sure. Your bias is making you post stupid ****. Overcome your bias, don't be it.

Yep, you are not quite right about anything about all that except your last sentence... you see, we don't have goon squads. But I can tell you if the violence against our side continues or gets worse, I am guessing we are gonna end up with some dead lefties out there.

The right of self defense is universally accepted out here in reality. We on the right don't truck with that kinda crap very long and seeing as we were taken for a ride on this whole, "just give us tolerance, that's all we ask" thing already, our patience has grown long in the tooth if you catch my drift.

Your drift is rather toothless as many on the rabid right foam and make silly weak tea threats about what could happen, been doing that for how long??? :doh

The rabid right has goon squads that flock to stand-offs, armed to the teeth and some are outright posers and valor stealers. Goons of the HIGHEST order!

I do appreciate your 'concern' for the health and continued well being of the lefties, touching it is.

Of course I recall Cons punching protesters at rallies so self defense is a bit much to claim. More like the Florida man who shot a teen for playing his music too loud, the rabid right will attempt a weak kneed claim of self defense...

My money is on the big talk from the rabid right wrapped up in the 2nd A will come to naught... :peace

Really? CNN organizes and advertises for BLM rallies?

Fox did more than "talk about it."

The Fox in the Tea Party

But please, continue your laughable denial.

What is important is that the Tea Party truly was grassroots. What we see now is organized and scripted and violent.
