Blaxit: NBC's Fake News Headline About Black Exodus

I was simply pointing out that sensationalist headlines are everywhere. Headlines are not the story. Clickbait rules the media landscape these days, whether it be a sewer like Breitbart or a mediocre entity like NBC.

it's the mainstream media that started the whole #fakenews meme. It is only fair to hold them to thier standards, no?

CNN, the democrat party, and the msm, started the #fakenews thing trying to blame it for hillary's loss.

Oooookay ...

So nobody called BS on any of the sites that posted things like "DEMOCRATS RUN CHILD SEX RING OUT OF PIZZA PARLOR" before those dastardly CNNs and Democrat parties pointed out that it was factually bereft? Yes, it was all Democrats.

(BTW, there's no such thing as the Democrat party. You should better educate yourself as to the names of the two major political parties in your country)

Oh come on, it's not like the right does anything better. I'm not surprised that a news outlet has sensationalist headlines in this day and age. You shouldn't be either, at least if you've been paying attention to the media landscape and not just regurgitating what Breitbart tells you. It's stupid to complain about sensationalist headlines, it's the only way people can get clicks these days.
Are you inadvertently accusing NBC of being "left"?

WTF are you talking about, the Democrat party, Hillary, blamed "fake news" as one of the numerous excuses for her loss. Commet ping pong pizza or whatever was an obscure conspiracy theory that some nutball acted on giving the alt-left, the DEMOCRAT party and the MSM an excuse to lament "fake news"....

Time Magazine= "MLK Bust Removed from whitehouse"

I can make a list if you want. Wikileaks (which you lefties used to love) shows which media outlets COLLUDED with hillary as well

RE: the bolded -- So it's intentional ignorance, not just accidental.

RE: your comment -- eh, the DNC after the fact tried to cover its own ass for running a terribad campaign, but you damn well know there was a LOT of BS out there, and the majority of it was not in Hillary's favor, before the election. Do I, personally, think it cost her the election? No, I do not.

Time Magazine= "MLK Bust Removed from whitehouse"

I see. A "fake news" story that happened after the inauguration was used as an excuse for why Hillary lost the election. Or something. Whatever, you're just spitballin' now. Let's see what else you come up with.

I can make a list if you want. Wikileaks (which you lefties used to love) shows which media outlets COLLUDED with hillary as well

Ah, "you lefties." Care to find a post where I've ever praised Wikileaks for anything?

No I'm not. I'm just saying it's not right. Why is everything that is not your version of right, left to you guys?
Now that's odd.

Responding to the OP about a "fake news" story put out by NBC you replied...

Oh come on, it's not like the right does anything better.
Why would you offer a "the other side does it too" retort if you don't believe that NBC represents the left?

because you are the one claiming it is fake, and you always did.

It's a sensationalist headline that doesnt convevy correctly what is in the article but it's not dishonest and the people who write the articles and people who write the headlines are different people.

Yes it is a dishonest headline in my opinion because it and the opening lines convey an entirely different impression than the content of the story. And because my cynicism of MSM motives is at record highs these days, I am sure it is intended to influence opinion of those who don't read past the headlines and the first lines of the story which are offensively negative re the President.

because you are the one claiming it is fake, and you always did.
Where did I claim it was fake?

Wouldn't it be easier to just admit to what I pointed out instead of coming back at me with this nonsense?

This is a fake thread I find no value in it whatsoever, I made that clear in post #2. The headline is factually correct and someone claiming that it is a lie is just as bad as what NBC did. The left writes a bad article the right lies about it to make it worse than it is. Its all a bunch of fake bull**** without a fact to be found in sight.

Lie

1. a false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive; an intentional untruth; a falsehood.

2. something intended or serving to convey a false impression

You mean like these?

Here are some of the worst Breitbart headlines signed off by Trump’s new chief strategist

Bill Kristol: Republican spoiler, renegade Jew

Lesbian bridezillas bully bridal shop owner over religious beliefs

Teenage boys with tits: Here’s my problem with Ghostbusters

Hoist it high and proud: The Confederate flag proclaims a glorious heritage

There’s no hiring bias against women in tech, they just suck at interviews

Pamela Geller’s Muhammad cartoon contest is no different from Selma

Sympathy for the devils: The plot against Roger Ailes

Gabby Giffords: The gun control movement’s human shield

Birth control makes women unattractive and crazy

Roger Stone: Clinton aide Huma Abedin ‘most likely a Saudi spy’

The solution to online ‘harassment’ is simple: Women should log off

Comparing Breitbart to NBC News... Are you serious?

No the essence of fake news is either reporting incorrect facts on making up facts. The article itself factually correct, a fake news article cant be outed as fake by quoting itself

Fake news is reporting things as news that are not, in fact, news. They don't have to be a lie to be fake news. They may also be misleading, or a lie, sure, as is the case with this headline, but fake news is sensationalism.

Blacks are not fleeing before the oncoming Trump. Fake news.

The headline dramatically read, "We’re Out: Black Americans Leaving the Country Before Trump Takes Office".

So I clicked the article, since this is NBC News after all. No one accuses NBC of fake news or sensational headlines to grab attention.

Maybe they should. The story describes exactly 2 black Americans who are leaving the US, for what sounds like vacation purposes, one of which happens to be the sister of the author.

We'''re Out: Black Americans Leaving the Country Before Trump Takes Office - NBC News

Fake News √

It'll never happen. If they can't afford a voter ID, they sure as hell can't afford $110 for a passport.

please quote what exactly in the headline is a lie

the headline is extremely misleading but its not a lie. This is why actual fake news exists because people dont know what a fact is.

Dude if you can't even admit that this is a perfect example of fake news, then there really is no hope for you.

No the essence of fake news is either reporting incorrect facts on making up facts. The article itself factually correct, a fake news article cant be outed as fake by quoting itself

A news article can be fake news by virtue of its headline, due to this fact: very few people who click on an online news article actually end up reading the whole thing.

So if you can get people to click an article based on a dishonest headline, most readers will stop reading at about the 50% mark anyway. Which is why I sometimes skip to the last paragraph of a story, because journalists will often save the most important facts until the very end of an article.
How people read online: Why you won’t finish this article.

It's a sensationalist headline that doesnt convevy correctly what is in the article but it's not dishonest and the people who write the articles and people who write the headlines are different people.

Someone at NBC News decided to go with this idea of 'Blaxit', and imply that blacks were leaving the country ahead of Trump's inauguration. Whether the author chose the title, or her editor did, it's still an NBC News employee.

If you want to put NBC on the same level as Breitbart, then you might be more honest than I had previously given you credit for

No question they lied in the headline, and that is how the alt-left media operates. To be fair, it's how all media works, but one expects a MSM outlet to be better than ThinkProgress, Salon, or Infowars.

The clickbait effort by the Democratic Party's MSM partners is well known. People tend to scan a headline, rather than actually read the content attacked. In this case its just a conformational to what they have already be brainwashed to believe.

https://www.ragan.com/Main/Articles/52240.aspx

David Ogilvy said: "On the average, five times as many people read the headline as read the body copy. When you have written your headline, you have spent eighty cents out of your dollar."

Ogilvy might have even underestimated headlines' value. Your headline might be the only part of your post that people read. Most people don't read the articles they share. They see the headline, source and catchy image, and they share.

Precisely why I deem NBC's article to be fake news. Well done. They know that a large amount of people won't read anything past the headline. There will actually be people who believe that African Americans are fleeing the country due to Trump getting elected.

No question whatsoever. That is precisely the intent of the headline writer. This is how the Democratic Party's MSM partners subtly message their ideological agenda.

So a poor headline on a completely factual article makes an entire news organization fake news.

This is a fake thread.

It's about one, rich, black gal that hates her country and retreats to Paris. Nothing about, "black Americans leaving in droves".
