It's obvious Bernie became a pundit after he lost the race. He became the new face of the Democratic Party and sold out his base in the process. That's kinda what pundits do. And just because they didn't impact the race in the way they thought they would, it doesn't mean they had "no impact," overall.
A "pundit" is primarily a journalist/commentator on the outside looking in, Sanders is not on the outside of politics, he is an elected currently serving official, ergo, not a color commentator, not someone on the outside.

Joe Scarborough has been all but begging journalists to examine their priorities in light of how badly they missed the election. He is trying to get them to go back to hard nosed journalism no matter what the party is. He's getting a lot of pushback. But I think he is trying to bring some integrity back to the news and is on the right track.

He's been, rightly or wrongly, getting a lot of flack from anti-Trump Republicans for being soft during the primaries.
