Will the main stream media loose credibility?

Will they think of better of, oh, going 100 miles out of their way into some podunk little Indiana town, purposely finding a pizza shop owner who says what they're looking to find, and making a mockery of them on national news just for the sheer, vicious hell of it?

Probably not.

I'm sorry... I not trying to be rude... but I'm having difficulty understanding this. I don't know if you made a mistake in typing, or if you are trying to use voice recognition software. I've read it 3 times I can't Make heads or tails of it.

The answer is no since they had little credibility, along with the right leaning "news" sources. Been that way for a long time now.

Yeah it has, but I'm a little bewildered as to why poeple keep falling for it. Was it just wishful thinking?

This is an interesting question. On one hand, polls have historically been accurate at predicting the winner or at least predicting a tight election with no clear winner for the last 70 years or so. On the other hand, they were completely, completely totally wrong about Trump, Hillary, and America this time. It wasn't even close really. He won white women. WOMEN. Incredible. I am going to be much more skeptical of polls in the future and pundit consensus, but I don't think they have 0 credibility now. They were basing their models and predictions on history and this was a history busting election. There were certainly signs of that before hand, but the safe money was still on the status quo winning given the unfavorability ratings of Trump. What is ASTONISHING to me is that his unfavorability ratings were CORRECT in the pre election polls and he still won.

You never heard of Memories Pizza?

In my opinion the MSM has been a profit driven propaganda machine since I was a boy. I don't pay attention, nor have I ever to anything they say. Heck I don't even have cable or satellite, I research all my own info independently online, and usually don't believe anything that's not properly sourced.
I am so incredibly sceptical of just about anything I hear. I've gotten to the point with every bit of news I find interesting I research it. It suprises me how often it's a stretch or a blatant fabrication.

If you don't mind me asking what age group are you in? Just curiosity.

I believe that our press is no longer free, its shackled by the need to generate profit. And we should amend our constitution to create a not for profit press, immune to the corporate greed that fuels partisan bickering via the airwaves.
I don't think that will work. Money will find its way in. But we used to have a media that was profitable but held a standard. The consumers expected that standard. They sold advertising space in their paper, magazine or television broadcast. I'm not going to say it was unbiased because I don't think humans can be. But they tried to simply witness and report. Now they aren't even attempting to hold that facade.

I'm just at a loss as to what happened. And more importantly why people don't care.

I am interested to see if Trump will live up to his threat to open up the libel laws, allowing him to sue the media. Which isn't the first unconstitutional thing he's proposed. Just the only one that may do some good in the long wrong.
I predict that Trump isn't going to actually do much. I think he is going to delegate

I think CNN said it best... and consequently they deferred blame in the process with... "(If Trump wins tonight then) polling organizations are going out of business."

The problem with pollsters is everything is basically based on the last election. In 2012 most polls or pollsters were showing Romney either very close or winning. The pollsters made adjustments based on what happened in 2012 and over compensated toward the Democrats this year. Probably in 2020 most polls will be a few points biased towards the GOP as they will base their 2020 model on 2016 and what they got wrong in 2016 although 2020 is a complete new election with different dynamics.

I'll be interested in the exit polls to see how much the double digit rise in premiums for Obamacare impacted this election along with reopening the e-mail investigation. The fact Trump finally stayed on message the last two weeks of the campaign in my opinion one of the main reasons he won.

Back during the primaries my money was on Trump (I was never really a supporter.) But over the pased couple of weeks the MSM was basically telling us that hillary had this in the bag. Every poll had her winning. People were convinced.

My question is why do they never lose credibility? Who trusts these people. Hillary voters, they lied to you, do you trust them?

Anti-hillary people don't trust them.

I MSM as you call them has always been biased towards the Democrats, mostly in a covert way when there were just the three over the air networks. Cable news has brought that bias to a new level, overt and they don't even try to hid it. I think quite a lot of Americans knows there is bias and that was brought up in a poll which showed that 52% of all Americans thought the MSM was biased for Hillary while only 8% thought it was biased for Trump.

Majority of U.S. Voters Think Media Favors Clinton | Gallup

In other words over half of all America think the media has taken sides.

You never heard of Memories Pizza?

Yeah, okay. Sorry, I was struggling. I wish I could say I don't know why they do that, but I know exactly why they do. And you do too. As does everybody who tried to claim the pizzeria did something wrong.

They can't illegalize opinions but they can make damn sure that people are afraid to voice it. If you ask me that is anti liberal. It's really just a form of social fascism.

That was a horrible display.

The polls weren't all that far off, a couple percent in most states. They also probably hadn't caught up to the last-minute ****ery from the FBI.

And the mainstream media isn't going anywhere unless a more-credible alternative arises, and your right wing blogosphere aint it.

If you look at Reagan's campaign he wasn't supposed to win. Everyone was predicting Carter would just smash Reagan.

That's not actually true - the polls predicted a Reagan win, but he outperformed them by a lot.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Histo...s#United_States_presidential_election.2C_1980

And the problem in this election is the pollsters didn't just get the POTUS race wrong, they were terrible across the board, missing some Senate races by bigger margins than the POTUS race from what I've seen. Just a gigantic disaster across the board for a whole bunch of polling outfits, including internal polling that was also wrong from what I've heard.

Psssst, a lot of people are ........don't tell anyone this....................STUPID.

The mainstream media had very little if any credibility going into this....

When exactly did the media have credibility ?

Well polling isn't a perfect system. As clearly evident. But it makes me suspicious. Was somebody cooking the books? It wouldn't be that difficult.

Psssst, a lot of people are ........don't tell anyone this....................STUPID.

See I want to think that people in the media were just saying that Trump didn't have a chance so people wouldn't bother. It kind of backfired though.

I think CNN said it best... and consequently they deferred blame in the process with... "(If Trump wins tonight then) polling organizations are going out of business."

One polling person actually got it right. Trump's campaign manager is a pollster by trade.

What do you mean will it? It already lost it. The mainstream media on both sides is totally corrupt, anyone who takes anything it says seriously is an idiot.

I'm not aware of any pro Trump media in the mainstream.

The media should not be pro-anyone. The media is supposed to be honest, not taking positions or sides. It hasn't been like that in a very long time.

I believe that even the media did not think enough Americans were that stupid, well they were proven wrong.

I don't have wings or spheres.

So who consumes this media and why than?

Of course it was, and it factors into what happened yesterday.

But they won't learn that lesson.
