Here's a textbook example of liberal bias from NBC's Today show

I don't need to check the ratings. I asked you how many people you are concerned will be solely influenced by The Today Show, and nothing else. You can't answer that. Because none of us know the answer. Nobody I know watches Matt Lauer once and says "I need to vote for candidate x".

Why did you ask me a question that you just said nobody knows the answer to?

You don't have to convince anyone that the MSM has a lean. So does Fox. So does MSNBC. So does CBS. So do the NY Times and the NY Post and the Washington Examiner. The Today Show isn't a serious news reporting show, so they will report on all of this exactly as they report on everything else - like it's an entertainment story.

Having a "lean" is one thing, but when it comes to reporting the hard news, don't you think it's reasonable to expect at least some measure of balance?

That report may have been on the Today Show, but it wasn't being reported by Lauer or any of the other hosts of the show. That was a NEWS report put together and reported on, by an NBC News correspondent. If you take a look at how Fox reported it on Special Report, you don't see a one-sided story, but one that was balanced and presented the reactions and opinions from both sides of the political isle.

I don't think NBC claims to be unbiased or makes any kind of pronunciation at all about their lean. Fox claims to be unbiased, which IMO makes them even worse.

NBC refutes any notion that they have a political bias and always has... Fox claims their hard news (not opinion shows) are balanced, which compared to ABC, NBC and CBS, damned sure are. Again, you should compare the 2 videos i posted.

NBC is a horrible source of "news", FOX does try on occasion, but I have seen plenty of other instances where their bias was on full display. At least they do not claim to be balanced and unbiased any longer, that was proven wrong long ago. Today if one wants the real news they have to do a lot of leg work to gleam the truth out of all the "news" reported on the major news outlets, a sign of the times.

I take it then, that you agree that the NBC News story was one sided as hell, while Special Report's reporting on the story presented both sides in a reasonably balanced manner?

No, that isn't what I'm arguing at all. I said low information voters (which is what you decided The Today Show watchers are) are entitled to keep on watching what they want to watch. Just like idiots who listen to Rush and Hannity are free to continue doing so. It isn't for me to say that they have to receive a specific kind of report from the show of their choice. They are free to change channels.

How about the Today show exhibiting some ethics? Where does that fit in?

Although most of the MSM are extremely biased in favor of the left and against the right, NBC as a corporation with all it's subordinate groups like MSNBC and others, has chosen (decades ago) to become the broadcast television and cable television news organization of record for the DNC.

Then why does MSNBC keep firing it's progressive hosts....

Does FoxNews or rightwing media treat Hillary in a fair and in a reasonable manner?

So you're worked up about Breitbart lacking ethics?

The Today Show doesn't claim to be a hard news show. They never did. So as such this is a non-story. It's the night time NBC news line up that is the hard news. You seriously didn't know this, did you?

Can you show me where The Today Show advertises itself as hard news? Because I remember watching it when Deborah Norville was a co-host and John Palmer read the news, and Bryan Gumble was rude to Bob Dole, and they never called themselves a news show.

Ratings? Contract disputes?

This was the report NBC's Today Show did this morning, on Comey's letter to congress about the FBI reopening the Clinton email case.

Take notice of who they interviewed and who they quoted about it.

Here's the breakdown:
(keep in mind, this story centers around the possible criminal actions of Hillary Clinton, not Donald Trump)

NBC correspondent Peter Alexander description of democrat and republican reaction to the news:
Clinton camp "Directors movement as wrong and over-blown"
Donald Trump "Hyping the news"

1:31 - Total time presenting pro-Hillary/anti-Comey perspective
0:21 - Total time presenting pro-Trump/pro-Comey perspective

0:21 - Time spent showing Hillary's reaction to the news
0:04 - Time spent showing Trump's reaction to the news

4 - Number of people quoted or interviewed pro-Hillary/anti-Comey perspective
0 - Number of people quoted or interviewed pro-Trump/pro-Comey perspective

3 - Screen captions anti-Comey
0 - Screen captions pro-Comey

1 - Screen captions anti-Trump
0 - Screen captions anti-Hillary

The most glaring thing that stood out to me, wasn't the fact that they interviewed Clinton's campaign manager, but not Trump's, or that they didn't even offer a direct quote from Trump on Comey's actions, but quoted Hillary...

What stood out to me, was the fact that NBC dedicated nearly half a minute to the letter Harry Reid sent to the FBI, not only highlighting his accusation of Comey possibly "Violating the Hatch Act", but reporting the completely unrelated and baseless accusation that Comey and the FBI are sitting on "Explosive information" about "ties between Trump, his advisors and the Russian government", showing a picture of Trump with the Russian flag superimposed in the background.

This is a textbook example of liberal bias in the mainstream news media.

It's despicable, disgraceful and a disservice to the American public.

.

The story is about Comey and Hillary's emails....not Trump. So what did you expect....a ten minute rant from Trump praising Comey's blatant interference in a national election and nothing in Clinton's defense?

They are a mix of talk, opinion and hard news. The clip I posted was a hard news report from an NBC correspondent, not part of the on-set talk and opinion. What they do live on the set is engage in discussions and conduct interviews that do involve quite a bit of opinion, but at the top and bottom of the hour they go to the "news desk" for the hard news. That report was part of that hard news. The hosts of the show probably discussed that report after it was done, injecting their thoughts and opinions on it.

.

It's been well over a year since both those articles were written, and still I haven't seen any shifting from left to the center-right on MSNBC.

You're not seeing a lot of progressive hosts anymore, either.

The story is about Comey and Hillary's emails....not Trump.

Exactly!

So why did NBC talk about Reid's allegations about Trump being tied to the Russians and depict him with a Russian flag superimposed in the background, when it was a story about Clinton's emails?

So what did you expect....a ten minute rant from Trump praising Comey's blatant interference in a national election and nothing in Clinton's defense?

No, I expected them to give time to how both sides felt, and to present both the positive and negative sides of Comey's decision. That report only interviewed those opposed to what Comey did and supported the Clinton campaign's narrative.

That's not reporting the news, that's one sided propaganda.

Watch how Special Report covered the story and learn what balance and covering both sides means.

You think I cant see past the deflection to Breitbart because you don't want to talk about the Today Show? The other guy does it too, isn't a compelling defense of crappy behavior.

They DO claim to be a news show. As such they should have ethics and integrity about bias. About TODAY - Visit Today, Contact Information & Anchor Bios - TODAY.com We expect a lot of a President, but we expect something of a mayor as well.

You don't seriously get your news from The Today Show, I hope? It's a show for housewives, not real journalism.
Yes. "Housewife journalism" mixed with tips on squeezing the most out of a chicken.

Hey! Housewife Lives Matter!

We need more of them!

Yes, I don't want to talk about The Today Show, which is why I talked about them in the next 2 sentences.

We watch the Today Show.

The wife likes it, I get it on the DVR saw I can fast forward over the commercials (there's a ton) and the crap (there's 2 tons).

So here's the deal, NBC is a business. They like money. Dems had been complaining about all the free airtime Trump was getting across the media. But it was really something on the Today Show, you'd see his ugly mug ten times as much as her ugly mug.

To add insult to injury, they threw softballs, never challenging his utter BS.

That went on for about a year.

Try to come at this from a political perspective and it will make no sense at all. Realise they are mostly about the money, and it makes sense.

No question, it's all about the money. That's hardly a revelation.

Soft balls to Trump?

Hillary's MSM partners, which includes NBC and all it's related derivatives, have lied, deceived, and corrupted the nature of journalism via it's effort to destroy Trump.

This occurred from his first press conference announcing his intent to run for President to the present. No question he received more coverage than any other candidate, but it was negative coverage.

What has perplexed Hillary's MSM partners is rather than buy the BS load they were pushing, voters began to see how biased and politically motivated the coverage has been, and they have pushed back.

As proof, consider how the public views the media today. They see the media in collusion with Hillary. They see soft balls being thrown her way. They see proof journalists are feeding questions to Hillary, so she can prepare answers.

You're correct, it's a business. And voters have seen just how filthy a business it is.
