Did Jesus drink wine or grape juice?

What do you think?

I ask this question because there are some Christian sects that do not allow their members to drink wine - or any alcohol.

Well, Jesus also died for our sins. I don't think you need to entirely replicate his behavior to be a good Christian anyhow.

Allegedly, but no real proof exists.

If the situation calls for it, indeed you do...

"No one has love greater than this, that someone should surrender his life in behalf of his friends." John 15:13

If it was grape juice, the Bible would've called it grape juice...the Passover occurred well after the harvest season and since there was no refrigeration back then, it had to be wine by that time due to the fermentation process...in the spring of the year...

Oh, I like this one. :)

Wine, of course. But wait, there's more. The first documented miracle of Christ is turning water into wine...at a party, where everyone was already hammered!

9 and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside 10 and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”
John 2:9-10

The odd puritanism around intoxication amongst some denominations seems misplaced. I'm a Proverbs 31:7 kind of guy. ;)

Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.

Just follow the things you like right? Lol, christians.

Which jesus, that was a common name back then?

How did you establish this belief? The purported events occurred some 2,000 years ago so what would you demand as convincing (to you) proof or even evidence that has survived that lengthy time?

Replication, since we can't actually see it occur in person.

Let me quote:

Certainly Jesus could have drunk grape juice. Of course that would happen only within a couple of weeks of the fall harvest season. They had no way to preserve grape juice past the harvest season of fresh grapes. The people made wine from the grape juice as a way to preserve it. The raw grape juice would ferment into wine if left on its own, but would probably end up as vinegar. (Actually most of the wine that wasn’t consumed with in a month or so likely ended up as vinegar.)

The people drank wine because a lot of the water in populated areas was unfit to drink. So Jesus would have also drank wine as part of his normal life at that point in history.

Can something be true yet not be repeatable?
Technically I used the wrong word. It should be reproducible. And that is how you scientifically prove something. It must be reproducible. You can make all sorts of claims that something extraordinary happened or you did something extraordinary, but without the ability to reproduce it, your claim is just that.

That question is an obvious setup to elicit an answer that will support your belief. The real question is can something that can't be independently verified be considered a fact? Your use of the word true is a giveaway. What does it mean to be true? And how do you know whether or not something is repeatable, and what does that have to do with the truth of something? Your question ignore the real questions.

The swab held up for Jesus to drink, was vinegar, which was slightly rancid wine. That was not called vinegar.

Jesus drank wine, and so should we. Jeez.

FIRST thing out of the ark. and Noah planted a vineyard, and immediately crushed the grapes and fermented it. MADE A BUNCH, and got rip snorting drunk. His sons, ashamed that he was slurring, and saying I love you man, put a blanket over him when he collapsed and slept. God cursed them both for it, and said, that it was sinful to be ashamed of their shnockered pops. Probably hid their wives as well.

OOPS, ham was cursed, for looking upon his pops shlong. Thou shalt not covet thy fathers wang. eleventh commandment.

So be careful out there. God knows if you catch a glimpse in the healthclub shower. And you will suffer.
