Cost of Pedophile Priests just keeps rising.

Pedophilia is rampant in the earth worldwide...

Sure, but that doesn't excuse a religious organization from covering up for their creeps, that the repression that some religions often enforce can be a contributing factor.

Now the whole thing with the JW's is news to me, and I can't rightly give an opinion on your specific religion, but if this, indeed, is actually a systemic problem within your own religious organization, then are you willing to investigate that objectively and call it out, or would you excuse any and all evidence because it's inconvenient?

What a sad commentary on the world today. When I was growing up, my parents told me not to take candy from strangers, so I vaguely understood "stranger danger." I had to explain so much to my own kids that I never even knew to think about, much less worry about. Kids do need to know, but it breaks my heart that they do.

I remember those kinds of PSAs when I was a kid, and my mom talking to me about it. Unfortunately, we know now that kids are more likely to be harmed by someone they know and trust, rather than a stranger. Yeah, screw this demented world.

Well the Church seems to have found a way to "cover" their financial costs having hoovered up over 1.4 billion in PPP taxpayer dollars. Way to ease the pain.

Seems American taxpayers have forked over almost $4 billion to various organizations with "Church" in their name.

The price to the society for the sins of churches just keeps getting higher. in the name of the lord, pass the contribution tray. boy did America come thru bigly.

No, it is not really a sad commentary, it is hopeful. No longer do we pretend that there are no dangers, as we did in the past. No longer do we not speak about these things that always happened, but were once swept under the carpet, due to feelings of shame. I prefer a world where the dirt is out in the open, and exposed, rather than covered up and ignored, as it was in the past. Our heightened awareness of the dangers to children makes things seem worse, but it is better than the blind trust of the past. Remember, much of the abuse cases in the news took place during a time when trust in certain institutions was greater. We used to think it was only the random stranger who posed a threat, not the very institutions we trusted in to have our best interests at heart. And there are still those who place blind trust in what were once trusted institutions, despite all that has come to light. That is truly the scary thing.

I understand what you're saying and appreciate it, but I was thinking of the time I had to explain STDs and anal transmission of HIV to my 9-year old son, and I am terribly regretful still about this. I think in many ways children have had what I nostalgically refer to as a "childhood" taken from them. Think how many, especially girls, are overtly sexualized at 5 and 6. This makes me sick.

Well, kids are adaptable. It all depends on how you approach it.
