Isn’t faith being central targeting stupid people??

Faith: belief in something impossible or highly unlikely.

Isn’t Christianity putting faith at the primary trait they are looking for, telling us to our faces they only want stupid people who will believe whatever they tell them too???

All kinda stuff can be central to your philosophy..

Intelligence, logic And reason, being a good spouse or parent, charity, helping others, making money, exc, exc, exc..

Christianity CHOSE to put belief in the ridiculous as the central pillar of its philosophy..

It sure is funny that every tenant of most religions are exactly what a con artist would say..

But do t worry about it.. just have faith. Lol

To me, faith = hope. But, hope should never be associated with truth. So, smart people see faith as just wishful thinking. It has its purposes, but it should not be something to live by.

You never made a point to start with. You expressed a dislike for religion and people of faith. So what? That's a game here.

A truly rational human allows for the belief that something exceeds him or her.

"Allows for" is not the same as "believes in."

IMO, rational people do not believe in fantastical beings like sky daddy and earth boy. However, rational people leave room for the possibility of there being higher powers out there somewhere. That's called having an open mind. Zealots do not have open minds. They insist their beliefs are correct.

Sure you were kidding.

You cant tell people not to spend money onBS, but assuming it is fake, how many resources are wasted ..most churches consider prostalatizing charity, if we subtract that.. damn. AND they are diddling the kids...

What about the elderly who can’t buy food because they gave all their life savings to the preacher??

How many are using the money, that should go to upholding their descendants, in a failed attempt to buy salvation and the preacher is just lapping it up?

A) Faith is defined in the DICTIONARY as : belief in the impossible or highly unlikely..

Faith is the central pillar of Christianity..

Belief in the impossible or highly unlikely is the central pillar of Christianity..

Aka they want people who will believe anything they tell them.. aka stupid people.

That is not hard math..

B) I believe in things that exceed me... that takes about as much faith as the sun rising..

Can a fairytale be fairly considered one of the many “Things that exceed me”.... it does need to exist to exceed me huh?

You're confusing the very few with the very many.

Exploitation of anybody is just terrible, whether it's that con-artist Peter Popoff or just an ordinary thief or scammer.

Most churches, however, are transparent in their bookkeeping and know where every penny is going. It's all published in the bulletin and on the website.

Sad that you think that people who donate to their churches are trying to buy salvation.

Re: Isn’t faith being central targeting stupid people??

The idea of abiogenesis was cute back in the day when we thought small life forms were really simple, but we know that they are not. The idea that random non-organic chemicals organized into a complex system that had the ability to do many tasks is just silly. The life form would have to pop some chemicals together that could: consume food; metabolize food, replicate itself to the point that that replication could do all those things, ect, ect

That's not getting into the concepts of cell structure and the microscopic processes that are going on to keep the integrity of the cell. Chemicals aren't going to randomly organized into that. They never will. It's like when people thought that rotten meat created flies.

So let me get this straight if its possible. What your saying, I think, is this. Evolution with all its evidence is a crock, that humanity miraculously popped up some 5000 years ago.

So its true, the bible trumps science, there was an ark and jesus did walk on water. So, how did jesus walk on water, please explain.

Not only do zealots have closed minds, but they are compelled to proselytize when they should be working.

Well, you didn't get it straight. Abiogenesis isn't evolution. They are two different things. Abiogenesis deals with how non-life became life and evolution deals with how life that already exists changes.

Same way He raised Lazarus and was Himself resurrected.

Splitting hair. If you believe it's possible, then there should be no problem with others who who profess belief. Now, precisely what this group or that group of professed believers may say and/or do is another matter.

No, actually the difference is monumentally huge. Saying, "Ok, I guess it could be possible," is a far cry from insisting it is so.

Retired from God's work...interesting...

This from somebody who does nothing but sit on the internet all day harassing real ministers of God...

Actually, it's the most prevalent work on my mind til the day I die...

"How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the one bringing good news,
The one proclaiming peace,
The one bringing good news of something better,
The one proclaiming salvation,
The one saying to Zion: “Your God has become King!” Isaiah 52:7

No, that would be my God, your god is Beelzebub. Michael agrees.

Insisting? You mean you're discussing this with someone other than me? I'm not insisting on anything.

whats a real god need with ministers?

You are far from being the only entity in the universe.

lol...now there's an interesting twist on reality. What would be the difference between a real minister and an unreal one--you know--since all this god crap is just bull**** anyway?

Are there real ministers of the Force? How about whatever magic they have in Harry Potter; are there real ministers of that too?

It's kind of like the difference between a real engineer and a poseur who spends his days on social media.

What's an "emotional" person?

People who are dominated by their emotions, and take an emotional approach to what they believe and find valid. They are easily swayed by appeals to emotions. Faith is targeted toward our emotions, not our level of intellect. Faith is not an intellectual pursuit.
