This is easy to understand
We had another cleric blame earthquakes on promiscuous women

We also had Christian religious leaders here blame the hurricane on anti religious stuff.

Ain't religion grand.

They had nothing to do with this one, I just compared their insanity to blame all the ills of the world on their favorite group of sinners.
Are you claiming you never heard of Christian leaders doing this.

Wow, corona must be the slowest developing punishment from god possible. Our parliament approved gay marriage 20 years ago and it was implemented 19 years on the nose (April 1, 2001).

This is another religious nutter who has no other option than to blame adversity on a minority. He must have been reading Mein Kampf for inspiration.

Jerry Falwell Jr reopened Liberty University to prove that coronavirus is no big deal and just a Democrat hoax like Trump said. Multiple preachers and priests have held church services despite all the strong recommendations against it.

On the other side of the world, here is an Iranian Muslim Shiite faithful who, seeing the number of pilgrims to a popular holy site of a famous Shiite Saint drop amid coronavirus fears, is licking the bars at the site to show everyone it’s no big deal. Thousands of pilgrims touch these bars because they’re considered holy and will bless those who touch them.

Wrong, nothing more than nonsense. This has nothing to do with an appeal to fanaticism, my comment (and most others) are an appeal against fanaticism. Most religious people do not have such views so it really is not doing anything but stating that extremism is never acceptable.

FYI, if a political party would say something like that I would also have the same response.

Not that I'm saying it is indeed a punishment.
But, God can also be slow to punish - as an example would be Sodom and Gomorrah.

The sins of Sodom and Gomorrah had really accumulated greatly (and most likely the punishment was not over one particular sin -
like homosexual acts - but, a combination of all sorts of sinful acts). Ezekiel talks about haughtiness and the abomination that the women did.

Genesis 18:20-21

20 Then the Lord said, “The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous
21 that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know.”



And, mostly everyone in those places were guilty. How many times did Abraham bargained with God in order to save those places?
