What do you think of Martin Luther?

What do you think of Martin Luther?

And when I say MARTIN LUTHER, I mean Martin Luther, not Martin Luther King, as most US-citizens probably do. :)

I suppose that those over-pious "Bible Christians" have never heard of Martin Luther.

Or have they?

A highly intelligent fanatic with murder in his heart.

Important historical figure and had some good points about the church. However the subsequent conflicts between Catholics and Protestants led to like 300 years of bloodshed. So maybe that goes in the negative column.

Sadly so. The 30-year's war was a terrible desaster.

Kinda the opposite of Jesus' teachings...never mind kinda...it is the opposite...

He was very Jew hating, and laid the foundations of later antisemitism. Hitler was inspired by his antisemitic writings.

Martin Luther is very complex. Here's my "readers digest version". He became a priest. Studied the bible. Discovered that the church was not following Christ's teaching, added their own stuff. He then challenged the church, translated it to German. He corrected a lot of false teachings. If he would've continued, he eventually would've exposed the trinity doctrine as a false teaching, etc. (The last part is JMHO)
