It would be like listening to someone speak in tongues...it's useless...

If you know the Liturgy you'd know what is being said. It's not "speaking in tongues", you just don't understand it.

I don't care one way or the other. I know RCs who go to the Spanish speaking services on Saturday night to fulfill their obligation and they still know what's going on.

But grew up with this kind in terms of church services:

I grew up with this (and my father would occasionally play harpsichord):

I really like Michael W. Smith's "Agnus Dei." I am not a big fan at all, but his version of "Crown Him with Many Crowns" is just fantastic:

That is the good thing about being Catholic. :)

When I was in Russia and in Vietnam and in Denmark etc and went to a Catholic mass there I knew exactly what was going on without speaking much Russian or Vietnamese or Danish! :)

That is so.

Elvira is like a blind person talking of colours, as we would say.

Speaking in Latin is not like speaking in tongues.

But Elvira will never understand the difference.

Isn't the eastern rite quite a bit different?

Latin language church services... what an epic waste.

Isn't the eastern rite quite a bit different?

I was at a normal Catholic Mass in Russia and in Vietnam.
It was the same Mass as in Munich or Palermo.
Only the languages differed.

Speaking in tongues is just making **** up. Latin is an actual language. Big difference.

"I don't make this stuff up!" :lamo

Not if I can't understand it...same difference...

Exactly! :peace

And some-one who cannot see the difference between these two should best shut up and keep quiet on this topic.
Or on any topic, for that matter. :)

May I say it in Latin for a change:

Linguam Latinam amo :mothers_d

I love Latin. :)

Ich liebe Latein. :)

What do Bible Christians think?
That everybody goes to hell who speaks Latin?

And that we are not allowed do speak Latin, because Jesus did not speak Latin either?

I repeat: I like Latin.

Maybe I will start a shorter and easier poll sometime. :)

And so far 4 out of 8 voters say: "I like it!" :)
