@ about the list:

Those were the Popes that were - or are - Popes in my life-time.
Maybe in somebody else's life-time as well.

Yep, it's 2020 and atheist laypeople think they can tell the RCC what to do. Here, educate yourself:

Women In The Priesthood?

I'm not telling them what to do.

Just saying what they do is sexist crap.

If being sexist idiots is what they want to do that's fine with me. Doesn't change the fact that they're sexist idiots.

Perhaps you now understand?

And I am sure they would say for those who want to be ignorant bigots it's okay with them.

Calling your rules stupid isnt telling you what to do.

Well, they are not "my rules" for one thing, and for another, they might say your opinion is stupid.

Pius XII
Johannes XXIII
Paul VI
Johannes Paul I
Johannes Paul II
Benedikt XVI
Franziskus

Here they are in German
and this is your signature line uncropped as it should be, and also in the language it should be in:

"Airson cho fad ceud dhuinn fhathast beò, cha bhi sinn a-steach fiosrachaidh Beurla. Truth nach ann airson glòir, no beartas, no urram a tha sinn a 'sabaid, ach air sgàth na saorsa a-mhàin, nach eil duine onarach a' toirt suas ach le a bheatha fhèin. "

:2razz:

This being an English language forum, I'll ignore the Latin----------->

As long as but a hundred of us remain alive, never will we on any conditions be brought under English rule. It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours, that we are fighting, but for freedom – for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself

Yeah, gimme the Borgia any time. At least there was fun and games in the cathedral.

Whatever YOU mean.
That's what it means then for you.

Unless they murdered somebody or abused a child, then I guess they're all "okay".

Ok. It's an opinion. Most people see no logical reason to not allow women who believe to preach. It is only dogma that leads to that position. It will also start to drive more and more people away over time.

Well, there is a "logical" reason, it's just not your reason. Theres a hell of a lot more to it than "preaching" - after all, look at how it worked out for the Episcopal Church.

3 out of 7 say:

John Paul I

And? :roll::2wave::confused:

And there you have it folks. A perfectly excellent and crystal clear example of religious misogyny.

For thinking women should be treated as equals, and/or that women should have equal opportunities within the church, you're labeled an ignorant bigot.

From the misogynistic church's point of view - that's a label I'll wear proudly and with honor.

Popes do not only play a role for the Catholic Church.
They also play an indirect role in world politics.

John Paul II clearly played a role in the downfall of Communism.

Popes are mor than just an object of silly infantile jokes on one side
- and of sheer hatred on the other side.

Btw: Where are the Catholics here?
Do they not dare to contradict the hatred?

No!
I meant before 1946, of course.
Maybe I should have made that point more clearly :)

Fair enough.

Before 1946, I'll have to go with Pius X - he was a true man of the people, and I think he opened up the Church to the grassroots in a way that hadn't been done since the reformation. After 1946, I'll have to go with Paul VI... he built the solid foundation for the Church to expand beyond it's European base and opened it up to the rest of the world - he made it relevant again, especially to post-colonial Africa and Asia.

"Hatreds are the cinders of affection." - Sir Walter Raleigh

I don't think hatred needs to be contradicted, Rumpel. If you're faithful and true, then that's enough in itself. I have no right to tell anyone else what to believe than they have to tell me. We've all got to find our own way, do we not?

Any Catholic who has been here any length of time knows that "contradicting the hatred" is like bailing out the ocean with a spoon.

Yes, I should have known! :(
