Universe Or Multiverse

Doesn't appear to be able to be proven/disproven thru the scientific method. Sounds more like science fiction, than science.

Could be, on the other hand, there is the math behind it, which is based on actual data. And, it is amazing how often the math actually predicts things that are true. So, it's not like there is zero scientific reasoning. There is even a proposed test for it, which unfortunately is not yet within our technological ability to try. On the other hand, there are prediction that relativity made that were only confirmed within the last few years , such as time eddies and gravity waves that took over 100 years to confirm.

I prefer to dwell on realities...

The idea of it is mind-boggling, yet it also makes some sense after thinking about it.

Yeah it is beyond mind boggling.....and ready for this? In the multiverse...every theory here is possibly correct.

You could say many theories are fiction, until they're proven.

I have some theories which are probably wrong. My favorite is that the Big Bang was the end of the previous universe, which contracted due to increasingly large black holes. The wrongness of this theory centers on entropy, but I like it anyway.

Although not popular...I also agree with that theory. It's the only one that has ever made sense to me. Of course the current inflation...dark energy thing contradicts that but who knows what happens in a trillion years from now. I base the concept on what could possibly crunch all this matter into a single point. The only thing we know of thusfar are black holes. Jam enough of those together and who knows....they could reverse the inflation.

Until they are tested , and not falsified. No theory is every proven, only given evidence beyond a reasonable doubt

Not long ago Black holes were theorhetical and used to be viewed by the science community as science fiction. Many of the worlds top leaders in quantum physics believe this to be the correct theory.
I cant wait until we get into quantum entanglement.

it makes sense. i think where we're going wrong is miscalculating the vast distances. however, i don't see how galaxies don't all end up at the bottom of the black holes that they are circling around. if enough of those crash into each other, it just seems like you'd end up with a big bang type scenario. astrophysics is not my area of expertise in science, though, obviously.

I believe Einsteins theory of relativity came when he was looking out his window and watching a worker on a roof. Pondering him falling, he wondered what would happen if he were in a room such as an elevator that was falling at his exact speed....he would become...."weightless". No idea is dumb when it comes to this stuff. I find it fascinating that we cannot solve the unified theory and often wonder if that is by design.

hard to know. then you also have to at least consider the simulated universe theories. after that, it's a different animal.

If Hawking is right with his hawking radiation theory though then we are probably wrong as that would mean they eventually evaporate. Of course this violates some quantum rules....and some think he is wrong so...who knows....if guys at those levels are arguing then it means their guess is more informed than our but still a guess nonetheless.
