What Martin Luther thought and said:

Not only did Martin Luther share the common superstitions of his age, believing in the widespread use of sorcery and black magic, he also perceived the devil to be an active force.

"His view of witches was defined by his theology. He saw witches – like gypsies, Turks and Jews, who were usually mentioned in one breath – as accomplices of Satan in his ultimate battle against Christ." (Heinz Schilling, "Reformation und Luthers Hexenbild", in: Luther und die Hexen, exhibition catalogue, Rothenburg 2017, p. 209)

Luther and the Witches > Luther Worms

Not really nice ....

Or what do you think about it?

And what do Jehovah's Witnesses say about witches?

Sadly religion and "not nice" often go hand in hand.

Just look at what American Evangelical Christians overwhelmingly support. Not what they pay lip service to, but what they actually support: Stealing from charity, taking money from children with cancer, bragging about the women they've sexually assaulted (according to Evangelicals they do this most often in locker rooms), lying, running scams and flimflams, etc.

Deplorable.

And what do Jehovah's Witnesses say about witches?

We believe what the Bible says about witches, how about you, Christian?;)

Got no problems with this one:

And what do Jehovah's Witnesses say about witches?

Why on Earth would you single out JW's for this question? Especially since there's only one here?
Might as well just ask Elvira.

But still, why just her?

What do you think the bible says about 'witches'. What do you think 'do not suffer a witch to live' means?

So's this whataboutism.

The topic of this thread is witches. Have you something to contribute on this topic?

I do. My late sister was a well-known Wiccan (and licensed pagan minister in NY). Because of the "Rule of Three," she insisted that practicing darker arts was foolish and self-defeating. She saw what she called "magick" as very positive.

We have sorcerers in the WH evangelical supporters, so somethings never change.

My cousin's view of Republicans is defined by his theology. He sees them – like witches, gypsies, and Truks - as actively opposed to Good Religion.

If you wonder why I thought of witches today:

Today is an important day in the German Carnival. And it is quite popular here to dress up as a witch. :)

Sadly, you are wrong, as usual...

Using your own words, let's see you make a point otherwise. Also, what do you know about the word that is translated as 'witches'. Can you talk about that, using your own words, and not a cut/paste from a web site?

Why there are witches in Carnival:

In the Black Forest regions, Carnival is more about reflecting on the simple life of historic times. While parades and street parties certainly still occur, there is an air of tradition and history. It is also the time of year when the reign of the bad spirits that bring the darkness and cold are symbolically hunted down and expelled from the area. This is why it’s common for people to dress up as demons, witches, spirits and scary animals during the Black Forest Carnival.

Why the Black Forest Carnival is Completely Unlike Any Other German Carnival

A fine example of religious ignorance

So it is.
And a pity that it was Martin Luther of all people who had such a hatred againt the non-existing witches and the existing Jews.
That throws a bad light on him.

Er, my post had nothing to do with whataboutism as I was agreeing with the OP. Sorry if my wording was poor and confused you. The OP is talking about Christian attitude towards out-groups, such as witches Jews and Turks, is "not very nice". I agreed, and showed another way "Not very nice" and Christianity go hand in hand, in particular the disgusting behavior modern Evangelical Christians support. I'm sorry if you don't see that as contributing to the thread.

The OP specifically mentions other other out groups, and I think Witches make a perfect metaphor for any out-group. Quoting from the OP: "His (Martin Luther) view of witches was defined by his theology. He saw witches – like gypsies, Turks and Jews, who were usually mentioned in one breath – as accomplices of Satan in his ultimate battle against Christ."

Darned if that doesn't sound a lot like something Trump would say to energize his base. Seriously, doesn't that sound exactly like something you would hear from one of Trump's "very fine people" in regards to out-groups?
