Atheist: "God Doesn't Exist and I Hate Him"

Then who's Lucifer?
Perhaps just an angel (entities who actually may be like the abrahamic god, it is just he is more powerful than them) who saw how cruel god was and rebelled against that and then was blamed for evil. After all isnt there a saying about the winners writing history? What if Lucifer really is the hero who simply is being disparaged by a more powerful bully who wants to focus negative feelings onto someone else when bad things happen, when people are tempted "it wasnt me, it was Satan".

The Force is a possibility too.

Possibility!?!? It is the true religion! "The Force is what gives a Jedi his power. It's an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together." ~ Master Yoda

Like most religions, it has about the same level of evidence unless you can show me Midichlorians exist or that people can manipulate the world around them in the same way that those who use the Force in those stories do. It would be easier to provide evidence for than many gods.

Indeed. ;) But you blew my experiment. :doh

I can only speak for myself as a non believer. The word god rarely enters my thoughts or speech. Why think about or speak about something in which I do not believe? If I do speak of a god it's almost always to say bullcrap.

What? Here on this forum or generally? Let's assume he exists hypothetically, didn't someone once posit that if Lucifer was as cunning as people claim, he would adopt the guise of a benevolent god?

Well, that's my point exactly. It's not that people can't accept the possibility of a deity as much as they can't believe he's all that good. If *good* means benevolent, then he's obviously not bathing us all in continuous joy, peace, and pleasure. If it means all-knowing, then maybe his knowledge of what he's doing makes sense to him but not us yet? What god would allow a devil to punish us unless he plays both parts or at the least has control over Lucifer.

I am assuming that you are taking the role of some sort of obsessive atheist character. I will respond to what he thinks as a fellow atheist.

Actually many smart people believe in God. Smart people are a lot more likely to be atheist, but a lot of them still believe in God.

Science deals with the natural world and says nothing about the supernatural. Science is reducing the need to believe in a God because it is explaining many of the things once attributed to God. But science doesn't directly prove God doesn't exist.

And you do absolutely nothing to actually show reason and logic proves any of this. So far your logic has been pretty bad.

And there are scientists who completely disagree with him. Believing something because an authority told you to (e.g. your church or Tyson) is actually a form of faith and is more religious than scientific.

If you are an atheist, then you don't believe God exists. So I don't understand this talk about ending his existence or destroying him. I hope this is a metaphor for destroying the belief in him. Perhaps you see the belief in God as detrimental to society and want to convince people he doesn't exist. That is a worthy cause as long as you have good reasons. However, you seem a bit too obsessed with religion. Perhaps you had a negative religious childhood or experiences some trauma while losing your faith. Some atheists have hard lives and low self-esteem and want a cause like fighting religion to be a part of rather than dealing with their issues. It is common for people who lose their faith to still be worked up over it for a few years afterwards. But most people eventually move on with their lives and don't think about religion much. Most atheists just live their everyday lives and don't make religion a part of it at all, and don't really think about it much. I suggest you get counseling and if you do want to persuade people to be atheists, that you do that with a clear head and from a good place.

Dude...it's a goof...

Without free will, there's no point to the whole thing.

Without free will, we couldn't become unique individuals. Freedom of choice is a big part of how we mature and learn to grow. I don't believe people are evil or good, we're all flawed and imperfect.

Freedom is the chance to do evil. Freedom is the chance to reject God. Without these chances, none of the religion would mean anything.

I would replace "chance" with "choice"...freedom is making choices...

Would you say children up to a certain age are pretty innocent? It's not until they hit their teens that they become more responsible and adult-like. By our adulthood, we basically know right from wrong but don't necessarily believe it because we're only going on what others told us not with direct experience yet. So, evil is primarily making mistakes while good is knowing better or not being ignorant.

Then who's Lucifer?

A latan phrase that was used for 'the morning star', which referred to a fallen god in the Canaanite pantheon, who tried to replace the dead Baal, and failed.

And referring to...

Lucifer is Nebuchadnezzar, not Satan...

No, Nebuchadhezzar is being compared to him in a mocking way. It was actually Atlar, who tried to replace Baal after Baal's death, and in the failed attempt, fell. Isaiah was referring to false Gods.

I have some news for you, though.

The people that respect you and listen and give your beliefs a chance. The people that believe maybe they can find a place for your perspective in their worldview. Those open to different perspectives. They're woke.

The people that call you a cult and disparage your beliefs and seek to cast you into a pile of undesirables. They're not woke.

You best think again about what side you wanna be on.

Jehovah's side, of course...it matters not whether anyone listens, I will continue to do what I am commanded to do, just as Noah did...no one listened to him, either...

Jah would not call kindness "a joke".

Sorry, I edited too late...it matters not whether anyone listens, I will continue to do what I am commanded to do, just as Noah did...no one listened to him, either...

You are commanded to be kind, not to mock those that are kind.
