Around 6,000 years ago. Detection of appreciable amounts of C14 in nearly every substance on earth with a biologic background, including coal, oil, diamonds and so forth, prove that, according to C14 dating standards, nothing on earth is more than 50,000 years or so in age.

Almost word for word from Answers in Genesis. How do you account for the figures arrived at by the examination of Iron-Manganese nodule growth and sedimentary varves, as well as the age of Nitrogen impurities in diamonds? We could then move on to the age of impact craters, the time span of continental drift and the figures evinced by radioactive decay (AIG somewhat misleadingly focuses upon C14, however other methods exist such as dating by noting the decay in argon-argon, iodine-xenon, lanthanum-barium, lead-lead, lutetium-hafnium, neon-neon, potassium-argon, rhenium-osmium, rubidium-strontium, samarium-neodymium, uranium-lead, uranium-lead-helium, uranium-thorium, and uranium-uranium), among many other methods.

BS, the scientists change their story so massively so often that your argument does not pass the stiff test.

Have you anything better

You have quite the knack for seeing the negative side of everything. Does the earth is six thousand years old pass your sniff test? If it does, you should look into a sniffer cleaner.

So not only am I supposed to believe the bible stories I'm also supposed to believe god created the universe and we're the only ones in it? Sorry, can't swallow that pill.

Saturn's moon, Titan, possess all the ingredients for life except for the warmth of the sun. When the Sun expands in its later stage of life, and the Earth is engulfed within its mass, the conditions will exist for life on Titan, as they will be similar to that of Earth when life developed.

Using what measure?

If we use the scientific method combining various metrics...about 4.6 billion years, give or take a few millions.

If we use "creationism 'theory'," a little over 6000 years.

Take your pick.

Do you believe goddidit?

What, you mean that maybe some other forms of life exist in one of the two trillion other galaxies in the observable universe?

The problem with the premise is the word "when" in relation to the concept of god. They are incompatible.

Good point...science can only go so far as imperfect man's knowledge...Genesis 1:1 states, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." Genesis 1:2 states, "Now the earth was formless and desolate, and there was darkness upon the surface of the watery deep, and God’s active force was moving about over the surface of the waters"...we have no earthly idea how much time passed between verse 1 and verse 2...but God knows...

Scientists change the story if and when they get new evidence. That's how it works, and that's how it should work.

But, since you appear to think that's not the way to proceed, please tell us, how old is the Earth?
What's your "informed" answer to the question?

When did God create the world?

If your question is based only on the premise that "God" is the biblical christian god, then the question is not answerable.

The biblical christian god does not exist, therefore it's impossible for that "God" to have created anything.

Yes, when new evidence emerges, smart people change their story to match it. Unfortunately, religious people do not.

I postulate that much more than just "the biblical christian god" does not exist. :)

Science has pretty much nailed down what happened after 10 to the −32 sec after ground zero. That's pretty freaking good, if you ask me. Genesis, otoh, is about as wrong as can be after postulating "and then there was light."

BTW: Light was not the first thing to emerge from the ether. It was just space and time. Light came much later.

No, again you are projecting your assumptions onto others.

Let me give you an example of metaphysical thought.

We have only fairly recently discovered processes which allow us to create this internet. We are since then realizing all sorts of applications.

One of the most popular is the creation of internet "universes" where we can play out various fantasies in a "universe" specifically created for that purpose.

The best popularly known exemplar of this is the movie "The Matrix." There people existing inside think they are living in "reality." Yet their entire history is a programed memory.

So what you think is "established, provable, fact" might be a weeks old "program" in a vast "pocket universe" with each of us "non-player characters."

Try to have an open mind.

My mind is open to the idea that on this subject - though not always on others - your posts are made up of attention seeking pretentious twaddle. Maybe I'm right, try to have an open mind.

The planet Earth was created about 4.5-4.6 billion years ago in modern terrestrial years measurement. The role of a god in this process is a matter of faith, not reason or scientific fact. The planet Earth is most assuredly not approximately 6000 years old. Satan is not a magical being who can conjure up dinosaur and other fossils to deceive us. Satan is an act of faith in the Chrstiam-Islamic traditions and a concept of human deceit in the Jewish tradition which was later anthropomorphised into a supernatural personality. The age of the planet Earth is a theory and like all theories may be modified or scrapped as new evidence is collected and analysed. We must live within the limits of our knowledge and must try to recognise our tendency to fill in gaps of knowledge with superstition for the sake of continuity or peace of mind. Concepts like gods, Satan, dark matter, and dark energy have no place in a knowledge based understanding of our universe.

Now, if we live in a holographic universe, well that's another matter. If that turns out to be true then I'll scream 42, try not to panic and attempt to invent the infinite-improbability drive before the Vogons destroy the Earth in order to build a hyperspace off ramp. I will also become very depressed.

Cheers.
Evilroddy.

If there is something "out there", I sure hope it takes the form of something like this:

The account is a record of how the earth was prepared by God for life long after it's original creation in verse 1...

HE TIME LINE OF CREATION
THE BEGINNING

The material heavens and earth are created.—Genesis 1:1.

Earth formless and dark
DARKNESS

The earth is formless, desolate, and dark.—Genesis 1:2.

Day 1: light; day and night
FIRST DAY

Diffused light evidently penetrates the earth’s atmosphere. If there had been any observer on the surface of the earth, the sources of light would have been imperceptible to him. Yet, the difference between night and day became discernible.—Genesis 1:3-5.

Day 2: expanse
SECOND DAY

The earth is covered with water and a dense mantle of vapor. These two elements are separated, creating a gap between the watery surface and the canopy of vapor. The Bible describes this space as “an expanse between the waters,” and calls it “Heaven.”—Genesis 1:6-8.

Day 3: dry land and vegetation
THIRD DAY

Surface water subsides and dry ground appears. The atmosphere clears up to allow more sunlight to reach the ground. Some vegetation appears, with new species sprouting through the third and subsequent creative days.—Genesis 1:9-13.

Day 4: heavenly luminaries
FOURTH DAY

The sun and moon become discernible from the earth’s surface.—Genesis 1:14-19.

Day 5: fish and birds
FIFTH DAY

God creates underwater creatures and flying creatures in great numbers with the ability to procreate within their kinds.—Genesis 1:20-23.

Day 6: land animals and humans
SIXTH DAY

Land animals are created, both large and small. The sixth day culminates with a masterpiece of God’s physical creation: the first human couple.—Genesis 1:24-31.

Encountering a Goddess would be great.

Day two there was no water. The earth was molten rock.

Mic drop

That is not what verse 2 says..".the earth was formless and desolate, and there was darkness upon the surface of the watery deep,"

There was no water.

You may as well save some wasted effort and just admit the words are bull****.
