This whole idea of this thread is in bad taste. I fear ...

Re: What did Christopher Hitchens learn when he died?

I always ask people who believe in a afterlife, what part of dead do you not understand? And it is always clear that they are afraid of death. So they hide their fear in religious beliefs of a afterlife. They do it so much that they dream of an afterlife where everything is perfect and they end up having no real respect for life. Everything that theists do is in hope that they will be rewarded in a second life. Such philosophies can do nothing but make the living suffer for the want of a fantasy life that they will never be able to realize was false.

People like Hitchens died with knowledge that they were actually going to die. Having been at deaths door myself its not that big of a deal really, knowing that the end will mean nothing to me.

Can you explain that please? Not that you are not clear, but relate his brain death to his brain understanding?

I have not done a deep dive here so I might be wrong but I was reading recently that the brain dies slowly usually, and that when we die we will experience the death of the brain. This is what all of those stories told by those who "Come back from the dead" are about. When we were still a Christian people these stories were often told as stories of seeing heaven, or being on the way to heaven.

Liking him or not has nothing to do with the question.

For me it is in very bad taste.

Mocking somebody who has just died.
    Throwing dirt after him.

    OM
I recall my own heart bypass surgery. What almost seemed instant was I was entirely not conscious. True in that state, I saw nothing at all.

Dying was on my mind when conscious. I estimate once the Anthologist did his magic act, I could have been still conscious perhaps a few seconds.

Frankly given the beliefs of the non believers, along with super fast loss of consciousness, makes me wonder why many who want killing in prison, can't be like normal surgery is?

Why do many put to death claim when alive, I feel it. It burns?
