In a sense, that's correct. I wanted an answer to my question. She provided an answer to a totally different question.

She did answer your question; however your question was loaded ("why did they need..."). The fact that they were her children, and she has the right to raise them ideologically as she sees fit fulfills the requirement as to an answer. And since it's not the answer you're looking for, you will not be satisfied. That however is not her problem. I don't agree at all whatsoever with her ideology, but I accept her answer.

16-21 is the start for most people. Many people never think critically about their religious beliefs and shut down emotionally or attack others if someone encourages them to start doing so.

I think children should be prohibited from taking part in any religious sacraments or services until they are 18, so they can make a conscious choice instead of having it forced upon them by family or society.

Key word, beliefs. Some beliefs end up not being what the person believed.

I wonder how many kids would never know about a god if they weren't taught about one?
    When I stop answering you, there's a reason.......repeat, When I stop answering you, there's a reason.

Same pretty much applies to where one is born. 'Luck of the draw' , so to speak. Common sense tells us if one is born in Iraq, probably gonna be a Muslim. Born in U.S. ? Probably gonna be a Christian. India ?..Bring on Vishnu.Regardless of where you're born, or what religion your exposed to, most likely gonna stay with it. I think that's called 'human nature.' Parents tell ya their/your religion is the real deal, kids are are gonna run with that....understandably so.

I was born in the Bible Belt of holy rollers, as were my children...believe me, being a JW is not the norm...

Me too. And being a skeptic, and expressing it openly, before you enter elementary school is DEFINATELY not the norm!!!
