The dichotomy between white evangelicals and the religious shows up big time in the voting booth.

White evangelicals love Trump. Religious voters? Not so much.

But, it can be observed elsewhere as well. For instance, I personally cannot stand the Evangelicals. But, I rarely have any problems accepting the devout. The latter appear genuine. The former are blowhards.

One group honestly tries to practice what they rarely preach. The others preach but rarely practice it.

Just a few of many examples showing the differences between the fake believers and the true ones, I guess.

The white Evangelical supporters of Trump gleefully joined his cult back in 2016.

As so often happens, the take away is... 'Nothing has changed...nobody really likes Trump, he can not win an election.'

"Interestingly, the divide on Trump between born-again evangelicals and religious voters as a whole has been evident since the 2016 primary."

Yeah, since the primary.
And yet, he was elected.

What is a liberal to do, when an "unelectable candidate" , beats all the leftest candidates.

Be glad Trump is yours and not ours?

white evangelicals?
Is that some kind of religion?

And are there also black or brown or yellow evangelicals?

Race card once again is played. Race has nothing to do with Donald Trump being elected. Nice try.

Race has everything to do with a racist being elected president right after a black man held the office for 8 years. Everything.

Not as many.

Oh yawn...yawn.
Using the race card has been played. I know you can come up with something better. President Trump so far has stepped up to the plate, more than anyone can say about obama.

Yep, he stepped up and stole from charities. And children with cancer. Bragged about sexually assaulting women. Wouldn't rent to black people. Often refuses to pay people for the work they did. Led the racist birther movement. No wonder Evangelicals like him so much, he represents their values so well.

Evangelicals for the most part are genuine pro lifers. They believe that abortion is murder of the baby. They're not about to vote for anyone or any party that believes in abortion as they put it or pro choice as you would say. As bad as Trump is in his morals, he is pro life and that is enough for most, not all, most. The left can't understand this or ignore it completely. Let the Democrats run a pro lifer against a GOP pro choicer, you can bet your bottom dollar they would vote pro life Democrat.

This isn't rocket science. There are only two options that have a chance of winning an election, the R and the D. The R doesn't believe in abortion, the D does. If you want the Evangelical vote, change your stance on being pro choice to pro life. They're not about too. Nothing here is that hard to understand. Yet numerous folks on this site don't or won't.

You can call evangelicals one issue voters for the most part. Whichever candidate is pro life gets their vote and support. Little to nothing else matters.

He beat one terrible Dem candidate. And you foolishly think he will do so in November. :)

The phrase White evangelical Christian is a PC euphemism for Dixiecrat.

I just looked up Dixiecrats:

The States' Rights Democratic Party (usually called the Dixiecrats) was a short-lived segregationist political party in the United States, active primarily in the South. After President Harry S. Truman ordered integration of the military in 1948 and other actions to address civil rights of African Americans, Southern conservative white politicians who objected to this course organized this party as a breakaway faction of the Democratic Party, determined to protect Southern states' rights to maintain racial segregation.[1]

Supporters assumed control of the state Democratic parties in part or in full in several Southern states. The Party opposed racial integration and wanted to retain Jim Crow laws and white supremacy in the face of possible federal intervention. Its members were referred to as "Dixiecrats", a portmanteau of "Dixie", referring to the Southern United States, and "Democrat".

Dixiecrat - Wikipedia

Dixiecrats are the Christian conservatives who have never gotten over the confederate defeat in the Civil war and refuse to accept others be it blacks, immigrants, women's rights or LGBT as equals to WASP males. They want to legislate their sect of conservative protestant Christianity as secular law in the US. They are the core of the KKK, the TEAparty and are MAGAites.

Yep, the least patriotic Americans, in that they do not accept other Americans who are of a different color, belief or geographical location.
