My large if old book of quotations, The New Dictionary of Thoughts (1955), includes separate sections for familiar sayings from both the Bible and William Shakespeare. Given his remarkable insights into the human condition, could Shakespeare be considered as divine as any of the people quoted in the Bible?

Shakespear's ability to capture the essence of the human condition, the key characteristics and ideals that compose the essentials of human existence, in his works is a testimony to his own successes.

Maybe it's the other way around - preachers, backed up by choirs, are offering paying audiences what they wish to come to see and hear. ;)

Nope, Shakespeare was real.

Divine? Doubtful. Extremely gifted? Most certainly.

I love Shakespeare. I was an English major in college. I have read much and he most certainly put his finger on the human condition the way few others can. I have said that everything on the Bible is true - but some of it is true in the way that Romeo and Juliet is true.

I heard someone once say that if you took the Bible Code and applied it to Moby Dick, Melville predicted JFK's assassination. Probably true with the Bard as well.

nope - just one hell of a great writer.

No, he was a man. A very intelligent and talented man but a man none-the-less.

He wasn't a god.

Perhaps he could be considered divine in the same sense that the Buddha, a mortal, was considered divine or at least a person showing a path to divinity. Shakespeare did not present himself as a preacher but some of his works could be considered "morality plays" that instruct us on which paths to take or avoid.

No, divine means a deity. A god or god from gods.

It doesn't mean a prophet or messenger - Muslims believe Jesus was a prophet but not divine.

The Jehovah's Witnesses regard Jesus as divine as he's like an angel but according to Elvira this makes her a Christian as they follow Jesus' teachings - as do Muslims.

Christians regard Jesus as divine because he is god and not an angel or a prophet spreading god's word.

That kind of lunacy has been applied to Shakespeare.

He was not divine.

Divinity is merely a concept. No one and nothing actually holds a trait than can be called divine.

I don't know about that. When my ex was in her little back dress, she was absolutely divine.

What does "divine intervention" mean

or "divine guidance"

or "divine punishment" ?

Divine intervention was when I unzipped her back. Divine guidance, well, that is none of your business, and divine punishment is when she get upset at me.

I think you're on the wrong board....sex and sexuality could use a few descriptions from you.

I assume you unzipped the back of her dress with your James Bond magnetic watch.

I'll leave it to your imagination.

Was Shakespeare a divine being?

Yes, kind of.

Shakespeare was Francis Bacon, who ruled England as Attorney General and Lord of the House of Commons.

After he retired, he disguised himself and toured Europe as an alchemist diplomat with the power to mend flaws in gems and precipitate elixirs.

The Spanish inquisition tortured him for two years until when Angels had told him they would be able to help him escape.

He then traveled to the Himalayan Mountains and made his Ascension.

There's more to the story, he was Samuel the prophet and Joseph the Lord's Guardian.

He was Saint Alban who was martyred in the middle ages and Christopher Columbus who raped the native people; which he must have bemoaned at his torture.

On the planet the Antichrist ruled, he and the soul that was Washington teamed up with Christ to challenge He and the False Prophet with an opportunity to share their opulence with him.

They had a scheme where The Antichrist had all the authority, and if there was any glory it went to the False Prophet.

The Lord was only interested in the Antichrist's authority; to develop a rapport with which to help his people in the compound.

It wasn't an easy task to share with He, get stuck there ruling with the four Chagrinners and have the Beast come along without the support group He has here, so He didn't make it easy for He and would just as soon destroy the planet that He ruled.

The Lord let them rule a little bit as they had lost their previous bid where the Beast ruled, ate gold and blew up.

The miscreants did better in their second bid, they trained up the ranks of their former opposition taking birth within their borders and they denied their opponents a Kingdom.

Shakespeare is if very high authority under Christ and the Great Divine Director.

He fills the offices of the God of Justice and the God of Freedom.

It is he who greets you if you are ready for the Ascension.

Funny stuff. Are you a comedy writer?

Does that include what you post here?

I'm joking, yes, I riot when I write and you should too, I was almost a standup comedian in Las Vegas.

But seriously, my monkey came up with this typing at random.

If you can't tell when I'm serious, or rather not serious, you should go join the Hare Krishnas and get your senses cleaned out a little bit.

Hypothetically, you couldn't tell this was serious.

If I tell you I am serious I appear to be cracking up.

The above post is certainly correct and 2/5 mine.
