Tattoos - What's your "god" think about them?

I see you're worked on yours by hitting any keys on your keyboard.

No. I pointed out that your post had absolutely zero relevance to anything even remotely related to the topic of this thread.

Actually no, I didn't.

Actually, yes, you did...

(I'm quite suspect of any quote from the bible that actually uses the word "tattoo", but never the less...)

And?

What does it mean?

What's the consequence for those who get a tattoo?
What's the consequence for those with many tattoos?

Not that I expect you to understand what this means but the basic laws of the Law covenant were written on stone whereas the law of the new covenant is written on hearts...Hebrews 8:6-13...

And this is no way addresses the list of laws in Leviticus 19 and the list and whether or not you can pick and choose what laws from this list that you must follow.

And I've pointed out that the topic of this thread invites irrelevant posts like yours, mine and ours. So, as they say, what?

Actually, yes, you did...

No.

I was NOT asking what the word tattoo means. Especially since the word tattoo was never actually printed in any bible until recent editions.

What I was asking, and what every single person so far in the thread has failed to respond to is this:

What does this mean:

[h=1]Leviticus 19:28 King James Version (KJV)[/h]28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord.

The whole thing.

More importantly, what are the consequences for disobedience?

Miserable people usually do.

They can't stand people who just go about their business without bothering anyone..

1) Why do you assume I'm miserable?

2) If you think christians don't bother anyone you're quite insane.

I think a DP tattoo selfie thread would be nice.....

If you choose to go by the KJV, you'll not get the true meaning of a lot of texts...one of the worst translations ever...

Just as I thought...

Yes, we know, the only true version is the one YOU and the JW's use.

You still have NOT answered the pertinent question.

What does the entirety of Leviticus 19:28 (regardless of which bible you use) mean for those who get a tattoo?

That is not what I said...there are plenty of good translations out there...KJV just ain't one of them...you tell me, you can read, can't you?

Why is it so difficult for you to answer a simple, direct and clear question??? In your own words????

What are the consequences for those who get a tattoo???

Are there any?

Or is that one of those "it's an old testament thing, so it doesn't matter any more" kinda things?

Ignore her and her constant stream of insults.

What are the consequences of you doing something you know your father doesn't like?

I think you are out to bother Christians, not the other way around.

Why don't you just leave them alone?

There are plenty of non Christians and atheists that don't like tattoos or abortion as well.

Yes..........you are miserable.:lamo

There are no consequences, the "tattoos" spoken of in the OT are not what sailors, chefs, and hairstylists have today. Happy now?

What's the definition of "Tattoo?"
According to merriam: a mark, figure, design, or word intentionally fixed or placed on the skin

Here's KJV version: Lev 19: 28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord.

And?

What does it mean?

For what purpose is it forbidden? To have tattoos FOR THE DEAD! It's specified in that verse!

The Pagan Ritual of Cutting or Tattooing at a Funeral

Pre-Biblical mankind was divided into innumerable religious sects. Lumped together under the expansive umbrella as Pagans, these sects, too, had unique means of conveying their dead to the afterlife which included rituals marking the deceased as their own. The acts of cutting and tattooing, both of the corpses in preparation for the afterlife and the bereaved as a mourning practice, were widespread across these Pagan subcultures and had special significance in the conference of the departed.

The Significance of Both
The Pagan ritual of cutting and tattooing at funerals was believed to assist in passage to the realm of the dead. According to D. Eric William's 2005 article, "Another Hole in Your Head," the practice allowed the person to cheat death of the spirit while giving the dead a dramatic send-off. Ritual mutilation was a statement of man's power over the afterlife, open to man, with the supernatural power they believed was passed on by the ritual itself.

It stated that life and death were no longer up to God alone, a tacit act of defiance like many pagan rites.

What's the purpose of your tattoo?

I suppose, if it's a sin - it'll be treated like any other sins. It can also be forgiven, like any other sins!

You didn't think anything. Tell me which laws listed in Leviticus 19 must be followed by christians.

There are principles involved...for example...

"Therefore, whether you are eating or drinking or doing anything else, do all things for God’s glory." 1 Corinthians 10:31

It would be fitting to resist any tendency to draw attention to ourselves by marking our bodies with permanent ink that would do just that, not to mention, turns ugly, as we age...

The average IQ of JWs must be getting lower and lower with the advent of the internet and inquisitive, intelligent JWs leaving
I just see the average IQ of JWs getting lower and lower and lower as each decade passes. Why? Because much (if not all) of the modern doctrine is an insult to the truly intelligent, and with the internet now providing information to the curious, surely the "dam of denial" will not hold back the huge volume of data that undermines everything they've been taught.
