And this is no way addresses the list of laws in Leviticus 19 and the list and whether or not you can pick and choose what laws from this list that you must follow.

I was NOT asking what the word tattoo means. Especially since the word tattoo was never actually printed in any bible until recent editions.

What I was asking, and what every single person so far in the thread has failed to respond to is this:

If you choose to go by the KJV, you'll not get the true meaning of a lot of texts...one of the worst translations ever...

That is not what I said...there are plenty of good translations out there...KJV just ain't one of them...you tell me, you can read, can't you?

There are plenty of non Christians and atheists that don't like tattoos or abortion as well.

There are no consequences, the "tattoos" spoken of in the OT are not what sailors, chefs, and hairstylists have today. Happy now?

According to merriam: a mark, figure, design, or word intentionally fixed or placed on the skin

For what purpose is it forbidden? To have tattoos FOR THE DEAD! It's specified in that verse!

Ritual mutilation was a statement of man's power over the afterlife, open to man, with the supernatural power they believed was passed on by the ritual itself.

It stated that life and death were no longer up to God alone, a tacit act of defiance like many pagan rites.

I suppose, if it's a sin - it'll be treated like any other sins. It can also be forgiven, like any other sins!

There are principles involved...for example...

"Therefore, whether you are eating or drinking or doing anything else, do all things for God’s glory." 1 Corinthians 10:31

It would be fitting to resist any tendency to draw attention to ourselves by marking our bodies with permanent ink that would do just that, not to mention, turns ugly, as we age...
 
The average IQ of JWs must be getting lower and lower with the advent of the internet and inquisitive, intelligent JWs leaving
I just see the average IQ of JWs getting lower and lower and lower as each decade passes. Why? Because much (if not all) of the modern doctrine is an insult to the truly intelligent, and with the internet now providing information to the curious, surely the "dam of denial" will not hold back the huge volume of data that undermines everything they've been taught.
