Christ Is Risen!

“For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and will then repay every man according to his deeds. Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.“ (Matthew 16: 27, 28)

“Behold, I have told you in advance. So if they say to you, ‘Behold, He is in the wilderness,’ do not go out, or, ‘Behold, He is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe them. For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes even to the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be. Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather.

But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory. And He will send forth His angels with a great trumpet and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.

Now learn the parable from the fig tree: when its branch has already become tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near; so, you too, when you see all these things, recognize that He is near, right at the door. Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.“ (Matthew 24: 25-34)

“Then they will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. And then He will send forth the angels, and will gather together His elect from the four winds, from the farthest end of the earth to the farthest end of heaven. Now learn the parable from the fig tree: when its branch has already become tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near. Even so, you too, when you see these things happening, recognize that He is near, right at the door. Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place…“ (Mark 13:26-30)

“Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. But when these things begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near. Then He told them a parable: Behold the fig tree and all the trees; as soon as they put forth leaves, you see it and know for yourselves that summer is now near. So you also, when you see these things happening, recognize that the kingdom of God is near. Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all things take place.“ (Luke 21:27-32)

In these passages Jesus is explicit about his return. He said that he would return riding the clouds with angels to judge the world and that with the sound of a trumpet he would send his angels to gather his chosen ones from the Earth. This would be no secret, invisible or “spiritual” event. Instead, the whole world would see him in the sky just the whole world sees the light of the sun. This was to happen some time during the generation of those to whom he was speaking. To make it clear to his listeners that this event would not be in the distant future, he told them that some of them who were there listening to him would still be alive to see it.

“But Jesus kept silent and the high priest said to Him, “I adjure you by the living God, that you tell us whether you are the Christ, the Son of God.” Jesus said to him, “You have said it yourself; nevertheless I tell you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of power, and coming on the clouds of heaven.“” (Matthew 26: 63, 64)

This passage is from the story of Jesus’ trial. Jesus tells the high priest that he would see him return riding on the clouds.

Jesus’ Failed Prophecy About His Return | Black Nonbelievers, Inc.

You are rejoicing about Christ but you have never read the Bible?

Good grief, look at that wall of text...and Biblical text, no less. Someone's a fundie….

Lol, what's there to react about with a greetings that's obviously directed to believers?

Well, I can question the kind of reaction we get. That's the huge part of discussion here.....after we've gone past the greetings.
I can't help but notice the overboard reaction coming from some. It's consistent, too.
By the mention of even something simple as a greetings to fellow-believers, some posters easily go.....unhinged.
Why?
That's what's worth discussing.

If this "greeting" were directed only toward fellow believers, why place it in a discussion forum? A place sure to draw negative comments?

In fact, it is not a friendly greeting to fellow worshipers at all. It is just another attempt to promote one very narrow belief set over all others.

Doesn't quite fly in a discussion thread on something called a debate forum.

Using you imagination again, huh?

Here is a thought for you, if the story were indeed true, why is it never celebrated on the same date each year? Always seems to rotate, perhaps because it is a made up date for the sake of a story.

The most important date in Christianity!

Very Elvira-esque.

Think we should have him checked out?

Yeah...I think someone might have converted him on the sneak. I just hope it wasn't one of the Westboro cats, I hear they can be both mean and trolly.

Pastafarians are celebrating Pastover so happy Pastover to all Pastafarians.

Now look...if you're going to insist on logic and reasoning around here we might have to report you to the authorities.

And ban him from the cosy and insulating world of the theology forum.

Whether I belong to the same denomination or not, is not the point. I can look past that, and just rejoice with him - it's the symbolism of the occasion which is important, not the date! Lol.
We share the same belief in its significance.

Whether it's in the right forum or not, is not the point, either!
For all we know, it got accidentally posted at the wrong section.

The point is: it's just a greeting, for crying out loud!

If someone can't even manage to look past that simple greeting (which is obviously directed at believers), without getting triggered - boy, it's that kind of reaction(s) that becomes the topic! And so, it became!
As simple as that!

Created and false symbolism representing a false conviction of a history that never happened.

It was not just a greeting. Just look at the reaction it generated. If you cannot fathom the truth here, I pity you.

The only thing simple here is your attempt to support this op. And claim it to be mere words. If it were, you would not be so triggered in your responses and would just let it go.

It's ok...we love you anyway. You'll do better next time, I'm sure. :)

Would you agree that the people whom Jesus was talking to are long dead? A failed prophecy. The Bible is chock full of failed prophecies, scientific mistakes and contradictions. I did very well, you are the one who is failing. Why didn't Jesus return within the lifetime of his listeners? Could it be that the Jesus story is a myth?

He's new...he doesn't understand how this forum works.

It's nice to know you guys are here to show him the ropes, in terms of how this place works, though, thank you. :) Who says atheists aren't charitable?

Please quote where I used the word troll.

I think you might be a troll, Troll. Quit trolling.

Just read your post #43. Right in the body of your post. Perhaps learning to read or a memory course would be of use to you.

Sorry, my darling friend, I'm immune to your charms. I'm having a crazy horrible day, and I feel like having fun. We're never, ever, EVER going to agree on religion, or even the methodology required to discuss it, so we might as well have fun in other directions. At least, I plan to.

Now lets talk about fleekaflugening. :)

Nah, man, Christians like a long weekend just like anyone else. Debunk debunked.

You call it a long weekend when it is always on a Sunday? Should change your screen name to OLDenier.

I understand why you won't discuss the failed prophecy. Facing reality is hard for religious believers.
