How much of religion is human arrogance and/or egotism?

To think we're so special?
To think we matter so much?
To think we "know" what it's all about?

In the realm of the entire known Universe, and whatever may be beyond the known Universe, how arrogant must we be to think we're a chosen and special being within that space?

Why would Human Beings, on Earth, matter at all to anything that could possibly create the entirety of the known and the unknown?

Why would we think we're so special?

I'd ask my doggie or one of my kitty-people if they could answer me. ;)

The epitome of arrogance is self-reliance...Satan is the perfect example of arrogance...Satan loves it when humans imitate his arrogance...

Okay. I'm intrigued. Can you please expand on this more?

What attitude did Jesus say his followers should have?

"Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the Kingdom of God like a young child will by no means enter into it.” Mark 10:15

Are young children arrogant? No, young children are lowly and without status....they humbly rely on their parents for guidance/protection, just as a Christian relies on his/her Heavenly Father for guidance/protection...

Self-reliant people are the arrogant ones...those who say" there is no God" or "I don't need God"...

"In his haughtiness, the wicked man makes no investigation;
All his thoughts are: “There is no God.” Psalm 10:4

You take this crap seriously. Honest, I find this both sad and frightening.

WTF is wrong with people? Truly a failed species.

Wild. Just wild.

Serious question. Do you support Trump?

With people like you around, for the most part, yes it is...

lol...no...my King is Jesus Christ...I cast my vote for Him in 1976 when I was baptized...

Do you realize you are viewed as a radical Muslim or Orthodox jew?

Just a serious problem to deal with.

blah blah blah....

My fault I guess.

Is there anything you can say about your comment on self-reliance and arrogance that isn't directly tied to nonsensical biblical dogma?

Do you realize that is the farthest thing from the truth?

“You heard that it was said: ‘You must love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ However, I say to you: Continue to love your enemies and to pray for those who persecute you, so that you may prove yourselves sons of your Father who is in the heavens, since he makes his sun rise on both the wicked and the good and makes it rain on both the righteous and the unrighteous." Matthew 5:43-45

Are you not the enemy?

You are lost in your own cult and can't see from the perspective of an outsider.

You are a practitioner of voodoo, rationalized to justify you unacceptable rants.

I am getting out of here. I don't need to hear this twisted ****. It's freakin unhealthy.

In terms of the mental hoops you must jump through, the depths of the irrational rationalizations you must make, and the blindness to which you cover your own eyes, it's actually very applicable to compare a JW to a Sharia Muslim.

While some of your actions may be very different, the thought processes and mental gymnastics are very much identical.

The ultimate flaw of religion, the more we discover through science and systems of process the more we realize that all religion brings to the table is arrogant certainty with an amazing cost and influence into reasons to harm one another.

*All* of religion is human arrogance, egotism, and outright stupidity.

Wow...you're on a roll today, friend...

I love my enemies and pray for them every day...do you?

New day, new fun.

Did you get the job you interviewed for?

lol...you're a big meanie.

Still waiting to hear back, and got another in the meantime. :) Busy times. Too busy to scold you, except in passing.

Nice philosophy, but it is the height of human arrogance to say it's from God, and God did it all for you.

It certainly does not come from man, who apart from God, is inherently the most selfish, arrogant creature on earth...

I do not see any evidence that your claim is anything but arrogance.

I disagree. Believing in God, and living your life according to the morals outlined in the Bible, is a surrender, an act of humility. The concept of salvation only being available through faith by grace, the notion that on our own we'll never be good enough, is humility, not arrogance.

That's not to say that some believers remember this all the time and live accordingly...but doing otherwise is demonstrably out of line with the teachings of the Bible.

Humans are very often arrogant. We see plenty of examples on both sides of the theism / antitheism debate here every day. But the fallibility of human nature is to blame for that, not any license given in the Bible to be a dick... :)
