There is scholarly consensus that Abraham (and by extension, “the patriarchs”; and including the Mosaic legends) was a rather late-breaking fictional addition (post-Exilic) to the Jewish national religious identity narrative. On one hand you had former captive Jews returning after generations spent in a foreign land, and with no land remaining to claim as their own (Mosaic); and on the other hand you had Jews who had remained to claim all the land in their absence during the Exile (Abrahamic). The irony that 3 of the world’s major religions depend upon these myths and legends would appear to be lost upon most.

Scholarly consensus discerns that they are.

If there was a god, he would have **** on America a long time ago. It's pretty obvious why. But, fear not. There is no god blessing or ****ting on anything.

Pretty much. Whatever God is, there is nothing to suggest it is something which would involve itself in the lives and fates of billions upon billions of culture-bearing primates on this particular hospitable planet in a remote galaxy spiraling thru the universe.

I think the Bible verse to answer this is.

Genesis 12:3 English Standard Version (ESV)

3 I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.

I was taught that this applies individually as well as corporately as a church. Then comes the question what is a blessing or to be blessed. For me it's not necessarily monetarily. Although there are examples of monetary blessings given to Gentiles from the Bible. Rahab and her family was blessed by being spared for her help to the Jewish people.

Other than references in the bible, can you show that your statement is true?

You might want to rule out her using the Watchtower while you're at it.

I chuckle when I read the opinions of the zealots. In one breath they argue that god cares about the actions of man, in another they say he lets free will rule the actions of man. We're free to choose, but if we choose wrong, it's spanking time. That is such a childish view; it's not much different than how a child views his/her most dominant parent.

I can almost get behind the "god" who is like a combining force of all energies, some mysterious thing out in the universe enveloping everything, yadda yadda yeay. But, this idea of a Santa Claus type god, taking notes on who is naughty or nice, and which country deserves his "blessings," is freaking delusional. I mean it is literally insane thinking: Crazy stuff.
