Is the biblical account of Adam & Eve a nice little parable that was never meant to be taken literally?

Or

Is the biblical account of Adam & Eve an historically accurate, and factually accurate account of the events as they took place?

If you believe it to be the second option please explain how the mountains of factual evidence we have that suggests it's impossible for the second option to be true is actually incorrect, fake, or misleading.

parable

It's complete B's, Adam and Eves only children were cane and able, so where did everyone else come from?

Cain and Abel were the first two. They had "other sons and daughters" after. Still, the implication of incest is unavoidable.

Just curious.

What part of "a parable - Not a Christian" wasn't the proper choice for you? :thinking

"parable" wasn't strong enough for your thoughts towards it?

Again, just curious.

Yes the lack of genetic diversity would have doomed our species.

I'm hoping we get to hear about some of the "factual evidence".

Keeping in mind the mere words, in one book, are not facts.

Not a parable, but an allegorical reference to the simultaneous enlightenment and enslavement of man during the transition from nomadic culture to agrarian culture.

I'm not a Christian and I think the Bible is tool to control the masses. Besides, I like the story of Lilith better.

The inbreeding would explain much of today’s troubles....just sayin’.

think it was meant to be a literal explanation for the beginning of mankind that happens to be false

There is no compelling evidence against the view that humanity is descended from two first parents. The existence of certain genes with more than 4 variations held in common with other primates (the primary argument against monogenism), is not conclusive. It could simply be that those genetic variations are simply advantageous.

Fact. Then another guy came along and the two started fighting over Eve: garden closed...

It's a metaphor.

"The number of Adam's children, as says the old tradition, was 33 sons and 23 daughters." - The Jewish Historian Josephus
