It is both a property and a product.

Property: an attribute, quality, or characteristic of something.
Product: a thing or person that is the result of an action or process.

A magnetic field created by electrical current is both a property and a product of the current. Consciousness is an emergent property and product of the brain.

I think at this point you two are arguing semantics.

Or perhaps everyone starts with the soul in the body, but the soul only goes to the "cloud" if the person has some kind of transcendental experience. Thus, if you are preoccupied with the material world and physical pleasures, you will never reach the "cloud."
Depends on what your definition of "soul" is, in a way a part of us already "lives" in the cloud. Whenever we post online, we live digital footprints, and this could be a part of our digital souls. Imagine if that Black Mirror episode with Hayley Atwell is made possible. It will be so easy to gather our digital footprints and transfer our soul into a synthetic body. All it takes is the right technology for it.
