What if it was actually ancient and stems from:

Tribal people making people think they were gonna drown so the parasites reacted.

Or tribals seeing worms come out of drowned people. (or things)

How come in serial killer movies they tend to have portrayals of baptism being evil?

In the movie The Cell the heros are portrayed as being given the last remaining fonts.

Don't you think it's more likely that ancient people:

1. Thought in ways that tend more toward metaphor or analogy,
2. Saw that people's bodies get clean when submerged in water, and
3. Concluded that ritualized submersion would cleanse the interior self?

I dunno people took baths all the time. There's a caricature of people holding the baptism person down a little too long and scaring them.

Then why did they see baths as an unclean practice?

I think that is not quite what happened, The roman baths were coed, which was seen by some in the early
church as a pagan practice. To be fair, I think the remaining Roman baths, were likely very lively social places,
where activities not in line with church teachings occurred.

Maybe because your laying in your own filth????

I love a bath, but I either shower before or after the bath.

I believe you are correct.
I think i was mixed up thinking the catholic church banned baths, but it was co ed baths or they had to wear clothes or something..
My apologies. Thank you!

I'm not sure I understand the point of your second sentence. What is the caricature and why is it relevant?

Baptism is a reflection outwardly of a change inwardly in the Christian belief. It has nothing to do with salvation, as some would have you believe. It's just a public profession of your new life in Christ in a symbolic way.

Nothing more nothing less. We do it because it's pleasing to God. He would like for us to do it but as it is not salvation altering if we do not. Jesus was baptized at the age of thirty, giving us an example we should be baptized as an adult, when we understand what we are doing.

As I stated in another post in another thread, little babies can go to heaven when they die if they have not been baptized. Some religions believe that that's not true. They will take your money stating they will pray for the soul of your dead family member and their special prayers will get your loved one to heaven.

Not biblical, totally nullifies the Cross. Ain’t happening ;)

I think who goes to heaven is probably above your pay grade, as it is mine, and I also think it's important to distinguish between fact and your opinions. Among the Christian denominations that baptize infants are the Episcopalians and Anglicans, Lutherans, Catholics, Methodists, and Presbyterians. I'm sure I'm omitting others.

It's within anyone's paygrade ;)

What is Baptism?

Excerpts:

"Hastings Bible dictionary identifies baptism as, “an outward sign and pledge of inward repentance on their (man’s) part, and of their forgiveness on the part of God. Baptism is related to repentance as the outward act in which the inward change finds expression” (Hastings 82). In his book, The Glorious Journey, Pastor Charles Stanley defines baptism as, “An act of obedience whereby the believer publicly identifies through immersion (in water) with Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection.”

"Circumcision was only an outward ritual, or “seal” of what had already occurred in the heart of Abraham. He was justified by faith (Genesis 15:6). In the New Testament, the ritual of water baptism is only meant to be symbolic of what God has already done, or is doing, in a person’s heart – the “circumcised heart” – which is then “sealed” by the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit."

No. Horsehair worms are parasitic of arthropods in their larval stages, but live in water as adults. Once matured, they cause the host to seek water, and then exit the body, which is what your video is showing.

What he said.

I guess so if you think you're God.

Oh come on you're missing the point.

It's right here in black and white for all to read... If you repent of your sins and call upon the name of Jesus to be your savior after you acknowledge that he is in fact the Son of God and he died on the cross for our sins, and you truly understand that, and God knows every hair on your head so he will know if anyone is sincere or not, but if one is truly sincere and they repent of their sins acknowledge Jesus as Lord and ask him to be their savior, they are saved and will go to heaven regardless of if they are baptized or not.
