They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.

My thoughts will be with you and all those at this morning's memorial service.

Long live the memory of the heroes of Australia and New Zealand. May The Greater West remain united forever.

[h=2]Ataturk's words of comfort[/h]In 1934 the Turkish President and Gallipoli veteran, Kemal Ataturk, wrote a tribute to the Anzacs killed at Gallipoli:
Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives ... You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets to us. Where they lie side by side now here in this country of ours ... You mothers, who sent their sons from faraway countries wipe away the tears. Your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace after having lost their lives on this land. They have become our sons as well.

Serenity:

It's not ANZAC Day here in Canada yet but thank you for remembering and humouring the wounded, the fallen and the lucky surviours of Australia and New Zealand from Suvla Bay to Afghanistan. We honour the young men and now women of your two nations and celebrate their bravery and sacrifices over the last 103 years. From Suvla Bay where the Blue Puttees of the Newfoundland Regiment shared your hellish misery, through Bersheeba, Greece, Crete, Tobruk, El-Alamein, Italy, Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia/Indonesia, Tiomor, Iraq and most recently Afghanistan, your young have proved the worth of the nations and honoured you all.

From a wandering Scotsman who got very much lost on walkabout and in whom the rov'in dies hard I offer Eric Bogle's Waltzing Matilda. It and his version of the Green Field of France always bring tears to my eyes during times of rememberence.

Thank you ANZACs and thank you Serenity for not breaking faith with the fallen.

Cheers.
Evilroddy.

We remember and we honour the sacrifices made from Suvla and ANZAC Bays to Afghanistan a hundred years later.

A very different dawn service this year. Anzac Day services are all cancelled due to coronavirus, but many still planned their own commemoration at home, at dawn.

One can only imagine the positive effect on Australia and New Zealand all the Anzacs who died would have had on those nations.

Brave men all of them.
