Australia officially becomes a Police State

Australian police have raided the headquarters of the country's public broadcaster ABC.Police arrived with search warrants naming two journalists and News Director Gaven Morris, the ABC says.

According to the ABC, the raid is over an investigative story into misconduct by Australian forces in Afghanistan.

The raid comes one day after police searched the home of a News Corp journalist over the alleged leak of classified information.

Perhaps my esteemed Australian peers might disagree, I'm not sure, when you see some of the things the Australian government has done, such as anti-encryption laws, trying to specifically pass laws and go after outlets like "The Juice Media" for not being "genuine satire" and trying to prosecute Witness K and his lawyer in a secret court for whistleblowing on a spying scandal and now things like this... I gotta say it's pretty worrying, the Australian Government I feel was doing some dodgy stuff before, but this takes the cake and I think signals officially, that Australia has become a police state, I hope I'm wrong.

A bit tongue in cheek and very controversial in Aussmania but these video ads by The Juice Media will amuse you as you watch in horror.

Given an inability to put the genie back in the bottle, it's hard to construe it as other than intimidation. If we could imagine they were retrieving and thereby re-securing classified material, then law enforcement could make sense; but that's not possible.

Australia was originally used as a dumping ground for convicts. It's little surprise that our governmental powers stay close to their roots. This has been a police state far before this ABC fiasco.

Re: Australia officially becomes a Police State

To be fair to Australia, all countries are essentially "police states."
