Mosque shooter a white supremacist angry at immigrants

SYDNEY (AP) — The gunman behind at least one of the mosque shootings in New Zealand that left 49 people dead on Friday tried to make a few things clear in the manifesto he left behind: He is a 28-year-old Australian white nationalist who hates immigrants. He was angry about attacks in Europe that were perpetrated by Muslims. He wanted revenge, and he wanted to create fear.

He also, quite clearly, wanted attention.
=================================
This idiot left behind a 74-page manifesto. Excerpts seem to be rambling about 2nd A., immigrants, etc.

It's disturbing how big an impact American politics has on the rest of the world. He specifically mentions the 2nd Amendment and Trump. If nothing else, this is proof that politically incorrect rhetoric is controversial for a reason: It is dangerous and can have real world consequences.

In the manifesto, the gunman rhetorically asked himself why he chose to use firearms, or guns, to carry out the attack. He answered that "I chose firearms for the affect it would have on social discourse," adding that "with enough pressure the left wing within the united states will seek to abolish the second amendment, and the right wing within the U.S. will see this as an attack on their very freedom and liberty."
"The U.S. into many factions by its Second Amendment, along state, social, cultural, and most importantly, racial lines," he said.

How thoughtful, in planning mass murder this man took the time to devise a scheme to play the Unthinking Left into provoking the Right in a country with a constitution that has absolutely nothing to do with the incident at hand....and look, it's working...

The New Zealand shooter is identified as Australian Brenton Tarrant. Australia has some of the strictest gun control policies to prevent this kind of heinous crimes but New Zealand has some of the most permissive gun policies in the Pacific. Semi-automatic, high-powered weapons used by the suspects are banned in Australia. Otherwise, there could have been numerous mass shootings in Australia, where Brenton Tarrant is not an isolated case and mainstream politicians often air their anti-Muslim views in public. Gun law reform in 1996 stopped mass shootings in Australia for the last two decades, which is why disarming Australian citizens in the 1990s was the right choice.

I have friends in Australia and they told me about the strict gun laws. I was wondering if that played into why he went to NZ. I think it's obvious he wants to inspire others, hence his uploaded live videos, manifesto, and support for 2nd amendment. It is all very sick and disturbing.
