Brenton Tarrant: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com

Brenton Tarrant also filled his now-suspended Twitter page with anti-Muslim and immigration sentiments and weaponry. The gunman’s lengthy manifesto laments declining birthrates among Europeans and “mass immigration” and declares it “white genocide.” In the manifesto, he stated that he had planned the attack for two years and chose Christchurch three months before.
“It is a terrorist attack,” he wrote. “…There was a racial component to the attack.”
He wrote that he chose firearms for the attack because he believed it would mobilize the “left wing” in the United States to “abolish the second amendment,” which would in turn upset the “right wing” and fracture the U.S. “along cultural and racial lines.” The ramblings mention Donald Trump (whom he has mixed feelings on), Michael Jackson, pundit Candace Owens, and others. He was inspired by Charleston shooter Dylann Roof and far-right Norwegian killer Anders Breivik. Tarrant wrote that he was seeking revenge for Ebba Akerland, an 11-year-old Swedish girl killed in a terrorist attack in 2017.

Brenton Tarrant also filled his Twitter page with anti-Muslim and immigration sentiments and weaponry. The gunman’s rambling manifesto laments declining birthrates among Europeans and “mass immigration” and declares it “white genocide.”
In the manifesto, he answers a series of questions that people might pose to a mass shooter. It’s basically a Q and A with himself. At the beginning of the video, he says, “subscribe to PewDiePie.” At the end of the manifesto, he says, “Europa arises.”

In one bizarre section, he asked himself questions and then answered them. Who is he? He wrote: “Just a ordinary white man, 28 years old. Born in Australia to a working class, low income family. My parents are of Scottish, Irish and English stock. I had a regular childhood, without any great issues. I had little interest in education during my schooling, barely achieving a passing grade.” He claimed he invested in “bitconnect,” used the money to travel, and added, “I am just a regular white man, from a regular family. Who decided to take a stand to ensure a future for my people.”

As to why he attacked Muslims, he wrote, “They are the most despised group of invaders in the West, attacking them receives the greatest level of support.” He ranted about climate change, saying that by killing “the invaders” he could “kill the overpopulation and by doing so save the environment.”
Part of his manifesto contains a passage headlined “to conservatives.”
“Conservatism is dead. Thank god. Now let us bury it and move on to something of worth,” he wrote. Another section was headlined “to Christians.” He wrote, “Let our lives be stronger than death to fight against the enemies of the Christian people.” Another passage was headlined “to Antifa/Marxists/Communists.” He explained, “I do not want to convert you…I want you in my sights. I want your neck under my boot.”

Tarrant labeled himself an eco-fascist and added that “the person that has influenced me above all was Candace Owens.” The manifesto poses the question of whether he is a supporter of Donald Trump. He answered, “As a symbol of renewed white identity and common purpose? Sure. As a policy maker and leader? Dear god no.”

So he isnt a fan of Trump, but is anti-Muslim and is an eco-fascist, and considers himself a Christian, yet says is heavily influence by Candace Owens (a black woman). Strange contradictions and an obvious sign of a madman.

Since you brought it up, yes, I will go there. What we know so far is he is a right winger who hates immigrants and Muslims.

Yes, he is filled with contradictions. But he seems to have far too many common threads with Trump, who just recently bragged about physical prowess and toughness which could be used for his own benefit.

Lets call a spade a spade for heavens sake.

His only commonality with Trump is a possible racist angle though. When it comes to Trump's leadership and policies, he doesnt admire him one bit, so its not as straightforward as you think.

There will always be differences. Don't be fooled by the differences. Look at the commonality... the similarities.. what they have in common. But Trump is a right wing populist racist and so is the killer in New Zealand.

Trump is the American problem.

The sooner we admit our own problem is the minute we can begin to deal with it and remove it from society.

All we really seem to know is we have yet another anti-immigrant lunatic so enthralled in hatred that he was willing to take life.

Another sad day in human history were belief is enough to kill over.

TRUMP CARD... And in the very first response.

Look, I dont like Trump, but its unfair to point any fingers to him with regards to this crazed loon. This Tarrant guy is all over the place with his ideologies and it seems he just cherry picks them to fit his agenda.

Well he's clearly a lunatic, seeing as he mowed down nearly 50 people. But I think me definitely might've been radicalized by far-right elements, if his manifesto is anything to glean upon.

Inevitably, thee "manifesto" people are very, VERY deeply into their own heads. They say that they are using murder to advance this cause or that cause but when you get right down to it, they are merely using that cause to justify their homicidal nature. Basically, they woke up one day and said to themselves "I really want to kill a lot of people but if I just do it, people will think I'm crazy. I need a cause."

That is true. Latching on to causes to justify sick desires is also a huge possibility. It's probably a mix of both.

It's not a contradiction, as much as it's just plain madness. There is nothing political here. Mad people are going to do mad, hurtful, ****, and it's why we need insane asylums for people like him.

I don't see much similarity between him and trump. Trump is a leader, a rich businessman, and president, with very good policies. This man is a nobody with mental health issues. This man is a problem. Trump is a political leader who's been solving a lot of problems.

I feel the same way. Obviously there is a mental health issue here, but there are a lot of flags that this guy was familiar with the online alt-right communities. We've seen that mix in other shootings too.

Tarrant is a right winger. Trump is a right-winger.

Tarrant is motivated by hate of immigrants. Trump is motivated by hate of immigrants.

Call a spade a spade for heavens sakes and deal with the problem staring you in the face.

Of course you don't. That is a willful voice you make to avoid having to take action.

The Christchurch murderer harbored many of the same views that The Norwegian Terrorist Anders brevik did: they were both anti-Muslim and anti immigrant and believed they were part of some life and death struggle for western civilization.

This guy was for sure a right-wing loon, but it has nothing to do with Trump.

What's your point? That is becoming a fairly common stance online. The anti-Muslim stance in particular is essentially the cornerstone of the Alt-Right.

I present to you some analysis that I cannot link to you because the word "****posting" is in the URL. If you do a google search for "bellingcat ****posting"(without the stars) top return right now is a link to the article. The basic idea f the source is that alot of what the guy wrote was ****posting, just ****ing with people. An example would be the part he wrote about Candice Owens, about which the article says:

Given the tone surrounding the Candace Owens passage, it seems clear that it was “bait”, thrown out to attract attention on social media and sow further political division. The entire manifesto is dotted, liberally, with references to memes and Internet in-jokes that only the extremely online would get.

Now, like with everything else, take the article I reference with a grain of salt. How much is right and how much wrong is unknown at this time, but with all the meme references and clearly ****ing around **** in his "manifesto", trying to draw too many conclusions from it is dangerous.

They are cancers that have the same origin.

I'm not even sure that is true. Trump is a silver-spoon, millions of dollar inheritance, conman and populist with extreme narcissistic mental problems who plays on division and drama to fuel ratings. The shooter is a deranged, right-wing extremist suffering delusions of grandure. I'm not sure they have exactly the same source, even if they may talk to the same audience.

Trump has willingly become a tool of the far right. He is the single greatest threat to America and its people in three quarters of a century.

Yes, the NZ shooter is deranged. So is Trump. The methodology may be different. But they are birds of a feather.

Yeah, I don't see how Trump plays into this.

Yeah, he doesn't. I mean, Trump is the absolute worst President we've endured, a conman and a liar and a cheat to put all the other Political Creatures to shame. Every rational and intelligent individual knows this. But not all acts of rightwing extremism are his fault, and he certainly had nothing to do to influence this. I think that we shouldn't give Trump the play by associating him with this crazy asshole.

Trump has willingly become a tool of the far right.

It's the other way around, he's made the far-right his tool to obtain power and stroke his ego. Trump is amongst the worst Presidents the Republic has ever had to endure, but he had nothing to do with the NZ tragedy. I don't think we should play to his ego and suggest that he did.
