Australia's government is currently falling to the global populist surge. Centrist PM Malcom Turnbull will be replaced soon by Peter Dutton (if he's not ruled constitutionally illegible), a right-wing populist. Dutton, however, is a dick, and his government will lose seats in Victoria and Tasmania, and probably NSW as well. A Dutton prime minsterialship will hand the next federal election to the animated ballsack that is Bill Shorten, and Australia will be worse off all round.

In the words of Alice Cooper... Welcome to my nightmare. Or maybe it should be OUR nightmare?

Complete shambles.

Ooh, dramatic turn of events. ScoMo is throwing his hat in the ring!

Scott Morrisson is the current Treasurer, and took Duttons Portfolio when he first challenged Turnbull. He's more right than Turnbull, but not a populaist like Dutton. Might be a viable alternative.

In case anyone was wondering, because of in-party partisanship, Australia has not had a PM serve a full term since 2007.

Is that tne only thing your keyboard allows you to type... or are you just jonesing, nostalgic for broken 45 rpms?

You don't like me calling the orange don, 5 deferment cadet bone spurs? How about complete asshole? Or just plain scumbag?

Understanding the illogic, how lost and the general banality of the source, he, like me, would consider that high praise, a badge of honor.

Good because I say it with the utmost affection.

Yeah, someone mentioned that to me a couple of months ago.

And considering the gallery of current mugshots, Australia can consider herself fortunate in that?

Every PM since 2007 has been remarkably average. Given the culture of leader replacement, none have had the balls to make any major changes that might isolate a chunk of supporters.

Well, maybe the trend (of no one serving full term) will continue.

I can currently think of at least one country which should probably envy Australia in that.

I'm loving it. I'm tempted to call in sick for work this arvo just so I can watch question time.

Do you still work with little kids? I mean ****, it would be much of a muchness wouldn't it? Except the kids would be cuter and more fun.

Australian politics really is a joke. If the Liberal Party is going to go through all the upheaval of changing its leader, you’d think they would have enough brains to elect as that leader, the person with the greatest chance of beating Shorten.

Dutton just isn't that guy.

I work with kids with disabilities now. The kid I'm working with this arvo is non-verbal, so he couldn't really tell anyone if I made him watch it.

ScoMo and Bishop (I would love to see Bishop take the reigns) are too centrist to sit well with the right wing of the party, and Dutton's too right wing to sit well with the centrists. There's no-one like Howard that can bridge that gap between the wings of the parties, and without party unity, they can't beat Shorten.

I would love to see Bishop take the reigns too and so would many Australians. Crazy, time goes so quickly, she's been Deputy Leader for 11 years now. Some of the recent polls have had Bishop as preferred leader over Turnbull with Dutton scoring very low numbers.

Find and destroy his Horcrux....problem solved.

And here we go...

Bishop confirmed to run in leadership battle.

Julie Bishop is set to challenge Peter Dutton and Scott Morrison for the Liberal leadership if a spill takes place tomorrow. Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said a party meeting will be called tomorrow at noon if he is presented with a petition of names. If a leadership vote goes ahead he won’t stand as a candidate, triggering a by-election for his seat.

All polling I've seen has her as more popular than Dutton and ScoMo. Politically she's Turnbull again, but with far weightier testicles.

It's on. Leadership spill is going ahead, and Turnbull will resign, threatening the Liberals 1-seat majority in government.

Scott Morrison will shortly be confirmed as the leader of the Liberal Party and the 30th Prime Minister of Australia. He will take the Liberal party to the next election.

A fractured and divided party. Terrible. No winners here.
