India China border: At least three soldiers killed in clashes in the Aksai Chin-Ladakh area - CNN

Three Indian soldiers were killed during a "violent face-off" with Chinese troops along the countries' de facto border in the Himalayas late Monday, the Indian army said in a statement.

The incident occurred during a "deescalation process" underway in the Galwan Valley in the disputed Aksai Chin-Ladakh area, where a large troop build up has reportedly been taking place for weeks now on both sides of the border, before senior military commanders began talks earlier this month.

Crazy escalation between two nuclear armed countries. I'm also seeing reports that the Indian casualties may be as many as 20 and India are also claiming multiple Chinese causalities.
China really starting to project a terrifying amount of power and ambition in multiple regions now.

China has reported that the Indians forces had crossed the border twice carrying out attacks on Chinese forces leading up to this. While China projecting power is subjective, India seems to have more than its fair share of border clashes with its neighbors.

Each country has a massive population, the number 1 and number 2 in the world, plus sizable GDPs.

My guess is America and Europe would go in on the India side, and nobody helps China, not even Russia.

If you believe China that is.

Neither side has a clearly defined border in that region. Foreign Policy magazine noted that many of the people likely died from falling off the sides of cliffs or in fist fights as there have been no reports of anyone being shot on or by either side as of today.

The bodies of the dead clearly bore signs of vicious melee injuries, even disfigurement and mutilations.

So why is it so hard to define it clearly? Are there like oil fields or diamond mines there or something that makes it so controversial?

They've just never agreed to one in almost 60 years since their last big fight and 20 rounds of direct negotiations. I have heard some say part of the reason is because the terrain in the disputed area changes a lot. IDK.

And now people are dead.

People are so stupid.

The Red Chinese are by their own choice liars, thieves, and thugs...

They are also babies when you call them liars, thieves and thugs.

How many people have died or been seriously because of the unrest in the US? Stupid is a fairly subjective term. Anyway, that area is in dispute among Pakistan, India and China and has a critical source of water for the subcontinent right smack in it. Welcome to Water War I.

Aaah, OK. Now it makes more sense. Thanks.

No changes on the India-China border. They've been trying to sort things out like this for 30 years. There are unwritten rules: do not hit in the face, no weapons, only sticks and stones..

Neither side has a border that's clearly defined. They are both in dispute. That being said, our alliance and interest in India should align us with them. I hope India can resolve this in their favor.

The ChiCom’s are pushing on all sides. The islands of Viet Nam, Laos it’s gold, Tibet its position in defense of the mid land country. World choke points. But India has mass people, educated, Bali-wood, and large amount of food stuffs. Three dead is a news story but millions are coming.
If we have learned anything about the onslaught of COVID - 19 it is that bio warfare can do far more than conventional war. These are the most serious of times sense the 12 century.
