Currently it is nowhere near as bad as the flu. And the death toll seems to be 3x from covid to flu, but there are also tons of cases where the infected don't show any outward symptoms. It's impossible to get a measure of it at this point. There are too many panic attacks and, from the other side, too many attempts to downplay it. No news on it has been reliable yet. It's obviously a threat and something to be concerned about when it doesn't respond to usual treatments, but I don't know yet how serious it is. I don't think anyone does. Honestly, I'm surprised it's even a partisan issue, though I probably shouldn't be.
They can't even manufacture enough testing kits yet to figure out who really has it and who has good ol' influenza A. I just hope all this panic doesn't lead to people giving up freedoms.
I actually suspect the flu my boys and I all had a couple weeks ago might have been covid, but we will never know. It didn't respond to antibiotics, but it's passed now and we won't be tested (if that would even help)
As crazy as it all is, I'm not sure how much more could be done at this point even with the 2.5 bil requested to fund it. We don't even know how serious it is and you can't cordon off a whole country without destroying quality of life.
Ah well, wait and watch and hope for the best, I guess. Kinda like the primaries.
