The US just ‘invaded’ an island in the East China Sea & no one noticed — RT Op-ed

Just recently, the US military launched a full-on invasion of an island in the East China Sea to send a strong message to China, and yet barely any mainstream media outlet has covered the story or its massive implications.

Last week, US marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit invaded a tiny island in Japan’s Okinawa archipelago, known as Ie Shima. Ie Shima is approximately 23 sq km, holds an airstrip, a fishing port and a local population of about 4,500 inhabitants.

A Marine officer stated that we are training for 'real world crises.' IOW, send a message to China.

I have no doubt that China noticed.

I'm not surprised that the mainstream media didn't notice.

Alright, this is a totally hyperbolic piece and headline. There's nothing new here, that isn't often done.

And come-on, look at this:

Media blackout

No one will come right out and say it, but it certainly seems as though the US military is actively preparing for a third world war. If this media blackout on the implications of these recent developments wasn’t bad enough; even more bizarre is the complete silence from the media on the enormous geopolitical activity itself.

Oh geez, I didn't even know it when I clicked on your link. It's RT? That explains it ...

Almost Radio Pyongyang in it's hyperbole.

Ie Shima is a part of Okinawa and there is a US military base on the island, around which the military drill was held. Probably the Russian writer is not familiar with the geography of Okinawa. Ie Shima is not an isolated island in the East China Sea.

Iejima is a Japanese Island in the Prefecture of Okinawa which is part of Japan. There is already a US Marine air strip, a small base and a firing range on the island. The US invaded the island in April of 1945 and then again in a matter of speaking in 1955 to seize farmland and to expel/relocate farmers by force from the island. It did not recently reinvade the island as it had permission from the Japanese Government to conduct the exercises. Now while many Okinawans want the US to leave Okinawa, the Japanese Government has not forced the issue on the part of the Okinawans.

This whole article is RT spin and nothing more.

Cheers.
