Brunei to punish gay sex and adultery with death by stoning.

Gotta love CNN.

From the story linked in the OP...

They just can't help themselves.

LMAO another failed dodge and deflection since you cant support your claims.
Good move run away since your post is getting destroyed but ill keep asking
you disagree by all means let us know when you can answer my question, this is the statement YOU quoted and mocked

Ill ask you again, whats factually wrong about that statement as it was made?

There are at least two things wrong with the statement:
#1 Brunei doesn't have neighbors, plural. It shares an island with only one other governmental society
#2 They have not grown more 'conservative'. They have however become more entrenched into Sharia law along with common law pratices. Something that is happening hear in America, right now, in New York state. the same place where you can murder a human being before in enjoys its right to breathing air
And to clarify for those who only see things inblack or white when it's convenient: From Websters College Dictionary cir 2002: conservative. 1 disposed to preserve exisitng condition, institutions, etc, or to restore traditional ones, and to limit change.2. cautiosly moderate.3. Traditional in style or manner
Progressive: 1. advocating progress or reform esp. in political and social matters. 2. employing or advocating more liberal ideas, new methods, etc. 3. noting or characterized by progress, progression, reform, innovation, etc.
Clearly and FACTUALLY Brunei has become more progressive and by political inference, LIBERAL.. You folks in New York, You enjoy your Sharia law and dead human infants. You deserve each other! :roll:DON'T bring it to OHIO, SCOTUS

As of 3 April 2019, Brunei, a country located on the island of Borneo in Southeast Asia, is to implement the death penalty for same-sex relationships – a move that indicates a serious deterioration of the security environment for LGBT travellers and residents. In light of this jarring development, Healix International, worldwide healthcare and risk management solutions provider, has offered guidance for employers with LGBT employees travelling to and working in the country.

Brunei has long criminalised homosexuality, with custodial sentencing, but with the new law soon to be imposed, any individual found guilty under the prescribed list of offences related to same-sex relationships will be subject to stoning or whipping to death, in a strict interpretation of Sharia law.

Brunei’s same-sex death penalty: advice | International Travel & Health Insurance Journal

Brunei should face an international boycott over the implementation of Sharia law and it should be treated like North Korea or Afghanistan. 40 percent of Brunei’s population consists of migrants from Asia, Europe and North America, who may be at the risk of being stoned to death.

A movie actor has urged that people boycott a Beverly Hills hotel owned by the ruler of Brunei.

Some liberals have pointed out that the ruler could not care less if that hotel goes broke. The only people who would suffer are the hotel's employees.

I think that both the actor and those liberals are right.

Maybe some wealthy and influential people can help gay people in Brunei to emigrate to more enlightened areas. Brunei gays, IMHO, would eminently qualify for refugee status in our country.

Brunei says that it is an independent country that has the right to implement any laws that it wishes. I can understand that point. For most of American history, gay relations were illegal, with the police arresting thousands of men every year through entrapment. If any other nation had presumed to lecture the United States, no doubt our leaders at that time would have replied just as Brunei is doing now: "Mind your own business."

America is more conservative than Canada and Europe yet we enjoy more freedoms than either. More conservative with more freedom? How is this possible?

Depends on who the "we" are. If you're wealthy you have a lot more rights than Americans near the breadline.

On the subject of the thread... what a horrible regressive place Brunei is about to become. On a personal note, my partner worked with a gay citizen of Brunei who was here on placement and who returned last year to work. He has to live a more secretive life than he would here in Europe but he now faces death by stoning for a quirk of biology.
