Kim Jong Un Purges North Korean Elite in Violent Crackdown - WSJ

Some 50 to 70 people exiled, jailed or executed in anticorruption effort to shore up finances and eliminate opponents of diplomatic efforts, says report.

SEOUL—North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has unleashed a fresh crackdown against the country’s moneyed elite by exiling, imprisoning or executing some 50 to 70 individuals as part of an anticorruption campaign, according to a new report.

The crackdown suggests the regime is seeking to shore up its finances in the face of international sanctions while also eliminating hawks within the regime who may oppose Mr. Kim’s diplomatic outreach with South Korea and the U.S., said South Korean and U.S. security analysts.

Another one of Trump's blood thirsty buddies. Cleaning house before the next photo-op summit?

That's what I'm thinking this means. That Rocket Man is serious about working with South Korea and Trump.

It looks to me like he's protecting himself so he can continue...instead of facing the threat of assassination by those in his regime who don't want him to succeed. It's too bad he has to go to these lengths, but that's the nature of his regime.
