Yes. And this is not the first time they have been hostile to people trying to reach the island. I say leave them alone. Let them live in peace. Modern human civilization does not need to disturb them. In fact, it's already dangerous to directly interact with them, because they most likely do not have immunity to diseases like we do. Then they could die out quickly.

A missionary who repeatedly tries to contact a tribe known to use deadly force on intruders to try and convert them to christianity despite not knowing their language and them not knowing his, is probably best described as a nutjob.

They've repeatedly been hostile to anyone that contacts them. They shoot at everyone that comes near the island with arrows. They even killed two fishermen with axes, and prevented the Indian Coast Guard from retrieving their bodies. They very clearly want nothing to do with modern civilization, and the best thing we can do is leave them to their own devices, instead of stupidly trying to convert them with religion.

Leave them the **** alone.

What exactly is confusing here? They are an isolated tribe that owns that island. India has made it illegal to trespass here for the safety of these people not to mention the safety of people who might trespass. This idiot made a choice to go to the island.
 
I have no problem with the laws leaving them alone, no problem with them living the life choose. I have no problem saying that the kid who died on that island probably died by his own stupidity.
But when has it ever been ok to not investigate deaths, murders, self defense or other wise?

I'm sure there will be an investigation into what happened, but not with the aim of a prosecution. No one can be prosecuted or tried for this death, so no point in launching a criminal investigation.

I think a criminal investigation is always warranted when someone dies at the hands of another. I do agree that these people should also not be prosecuted, they don't live by others laws but their own. Im am curious how an investigation would take place. Would someone be sent to the island with a translator to ask them questions, would he be wrapped in bubble wrap to try and protect their immune systems, would he also be killed by the tribes men?

The only relevant investigation would be to see if anyone else broke the law, besides this would-be missionary.

I would think knowing who shot arrows at him and their reasoning for doing so should be in the report at least.
