In the interest of what this thread is about, I'll not afford that (or you) the courtesy of any further response.

Are you the same Truth Teller who was saying the coach came out with the first group? Just to indulge a penchant for nastiness.

Germans, Brits and Aussies have among others a much greater presence in Thai society and economy than Americans have.

I quoted the interior minister saying USN rescue personnel requested by the Thai government said number one was to drain the cave as much as possible and that the minister said that was what they were going to do. USG, corporations and Americans individually do consciously keep a low profile in Thailand and my posts have reflected the fact.

I've also sought to present the modern Thailand most people do not know such as the hospitals being modern and its medical professionals being of a high quality. Many Westerns go to Thailand for major surgery and treatment because of a high quality at much less cost. These boys are in the excellent hands of Thai medical personnel and facilities. English permeates the Thai medical care system and one can find English almost anywhere in Thailand, where tourism is central to GDP.

The negative issues impossible to ignore are the idiot military government that wanted the parents in hazmat suits two meters from the kids beds. The prime minister Gen. Prayut has denied the boys were sedated. He says the boys were conscious throughout which is anyway more than anyone can say of Gen. Pinocchio since he grabbed state power. One can be sedated and conscious yes while also not retaining any memory which is what so many Thais would like to finally occur concerning Gen. Prayut and his gang. Gone and forgotten would be great.

That is, it shows the US maintains its military to military working relationship in Thailand over Putin in particular given the hostilities between Ukraine and the aggressor against it, Putin and the eternally imperial Russia. Russians all but control the honkey-tonk tourist sex trap of Pattaya City on the Gulf of Thailand so they have money and power in Thailand. Yet the US Navy, AF and CIA among other US agencies continue to be based at the big Thai naval air base U-Tapao which is across the Gulf from Pattaya. US also has presence further south at Raynong which is the land point of the Gulf of Thailand and the South China Sea.

This is just a light touch treatment of the strategics involved in who is welcome in Thailand to assist its people in its time and circumstance of urgent need.

There were dozens of people who behaved heroically during that incredible rescue. I hope they all make a bit of cash out of it, if that's what they want. They deserve it. As for the movie deals. Too soon and almost certain to make terrible films, they almost always do. Those that leave a little time, get the right people together and do their research properly are always better. United 92 and The Impossible both spring to mind.

Re: Thai Cave rescue - boys could be stranded for months

Military channel broadcasts first words of the 13 saying thank you from their hospital beds. Each boy and coach says he feels strong.

Each boy does the wai with hands together in the traditional gesture of respect and a greetings welcome, introduces himself, thanks the rescuers in particular and says he feels strong. Each boy also does the wai when he says thank you (kop koon kap). The greeting is of course Sawa Dee Kap.

Adul Sam-on, 14, who is learning four languages, thanks everyone in Thai and then in English (pron: A-doon). Adul is boy eight in the order of speaking although he has the number 6 bed station designation on the wall behind him. In class monitor style Adul reads the names of all 13. Asked the first thing he will do on his scheduled release Thursday Adul said, "KFC." We can hear him say KFC clearly.

Team captain Ponchai Kamluang, 16, is the 11th boy to appear. Coach Ekkapol is the last to speak and he appears absolutely healthy and happy (pron: Eka-pon). The fourth boy in the video gets laughter from the tv crew and nurses as he can barely lift his arms trying to show he feels strong while himself is chuckling and as he says, sabai dee meaning "[I am] fine [and] good."

The video concludes showing the boys drawing in silence at the request of psychiatrists to express in art whatever they are felling or thinking at the moment. There's some pretty good artwork among these athletes too and it appears the boys have a peace of mind and feelings. The first minute of the video is in the tv studio, then over to the hospital and the room. The number we see on the wall behind each boy does not of course indicate the speaking sequence.

Public Health Minister Dr. Piyasakol Sakolsatayadorn said today the 13 will be released Thursday provided nothing new develops concerning their recovery or health. It is expected the boys who are interested or willing to speak their story publicly and to take questions will meet with the mass of media toward the end of the week or early next week. Although translations will be provided during the live event, I'm interested in hearing Adul speaking in English directly.
