This does not reflect my thinking. I also doubt, whatever the merits of the argument are, that Trump could pull it off.

But they are worth paying attention to.

"However, two senior experts – one, a former head of the US National Intelligence Council, the other an architect of South Korea’s engagement policy toward North Korea and a senior advisor to the Moon administration – defied the conventional wisdom: Both opined that Kim has, indeed, made a strategic policy shift...

“I used to say he would never give up nuclear weapons,” Treverton said in a conference hosted by the East Asian Foundation in Seoul on Friday. “I take seriously now the argument that [Kim] has completed his nuclear program, has got all the mileage he can, and wants to cash in.”

Moon Chung-in: “Unless Xi had got a clear signal from Pyongyang that they will give up nuclear weapons, he would never have extended that kind of treatment.”

Well, there's another thread floating around that Jong Un is upgrading his nuclear facilities, just makes me wonder with what money is he upgrading these facilities. I wonder if Xi offered him a boatload of money if he made nice with Trump, we all know Xi wants the US Navy out of the South China Sea... who knows. Either way, his backflip was faster and more perfectly executed than any I've ever seen, maybe he did get paid for it.

I also wonder who started the Nobel peace prize rumour a few months ago... that was a nice juicy carrot Trump just would not have been able to ignore, my admiration to the creativity of that particular team because it was very devious and clever.

I hope it wasn't the Americans because that would have been more of an own goal lol

It appears as if Trump will win, as a matter of percentages.

He just has a sense of tbe game differently played...more and more on the field he is out ahead defining. Its no great theoretical revelation, its just something a lot of non suicidal Americans just knew down deep...this guy wasnt the same ol, not the same no matter their level of outward sophistication, going from ridiculous to sublime. Has a sense of how to pick up the pieces in the chaos he electrifies.

I absolutely couldnt stand the guy right up until he was clobbering EVERYBODY, right about to take the nomination. I then gave him a shot...was impressed with how inarticulately articulate, non hestitantly open, actual transparency, good bad ugly.. I listened, not always agreeing with his ways...tough as nails and nastier, but with the nasty first crowd...which to my way of thinking is quite fair.

Try to hurt me or mine...suffer the consequences, reap what you sow. So...Cunning calculator or Cool Cat Daddy beboping to the Trumptrumptrump beat bobbing and juking with nine lives and his cheezy cheshire grin? Youre fake news. No, you are reaaaaally fake news. Too funny, too cool

In any event, he saw something most of us didnt with Jong un... even saw something in Denis Rodman. Sure, might all be the pure gaining of political capital, sure ain't racism. Two birds with one stone. Bonus, Denis trashes slenderman for ignoring his outreach. Denis took it personally, didnt know it just wasnt within the establishments playbook. Quarterback Slenderman couldnt call the play. Thats why a Trump was neded. His democrat counterpart, Berned up, caved completely. Not THE guy.

Mostly Trump sees his goal clearly, gauges obstacles to be overcome. Then works hard, overtime in mysterious but successful ways. The More Optimistic, I agree with the sentiment. Almost like a magician with goals...certainly a true American character right out of pages of our storied history.

They all have their individual schtict...the policy wonk ladies man, the cool, calm cold fish, the bumbling self deprecating not a fool but not a genius... they, we, all have our quirks.

Of questionable attribution yet genius either way Albert Einstein's famous line: "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

I fully believe many of us willed the change. Trump just bubbled to the top. Knock on wood, what did he say about winning? Like positivity, like optimism, winning is infectious.

And why not win? What do we have to lose that we werent already losing? Should be a famous saying, losing is for losers. :lamo

I saved you a front row seat.

Hey, thanks...and sorry...

I gave those tickets to a guy, you know one of those libs, always wanting a free ticket, the one you sent for that simply titanic voyage. I asked him what he was getting away from. Apparently he is an interior design guy. I told him, said, " You can never really get a way from your passion, I bet in two days you ll be rearranging deck chairs... "

Bon voyage :2wave:

Splain it to me, loosey.

Remember I am not a member, I simply dont have the secret decoder ring that you folks got in your cracker jack boxes.

I hate explaining jokes.

Seppuku...

Foreign affairs is one of the toughest things to pull off that a president has to do.

And that's with a functioning State Dept. Ours is more dead than alive.

Asia is particularly tough right now. China is expanding, and rapidly expanding it's influence and power. So we should be doing this dance where we constrain China, while maintaining an amicable relationship with them. You do that by playing the civilians off the military. Well, that's part of it. Trump is not just a bull in a china shop, he's bring the building down with it. SK, for example, joined the SRI at Vladivostok. In plain English, they are slowly pulling away from us, and forming a long term alliance with China. To guarantee NK doesn't attack them.

Its a changing world. Get used to it.

All nations try playing their best hands in this ongoing high stakes international gamble. Some better at playing short term loss and gain, some long term. America has been on a leash for more than half a century. We have continually weakned ourselves, all the while remining at the precarious pinnacle, to foster the interests of our rather tenuous, rainy day, allies.

The world has recovered from the Euopean mistakes of last century. Our economies, not so much our navies, are the new swords being wielded. Our system, economics when unconstrained along with the stricter adherence to the solid firmness of knowing with our constitution, has yielded us great power, great prosperity while generally retaining our principles, gradually improving, more reasonably inclusive.

Time to take off the gloves, be the appropriately reproving adult when others are openly stealing from our cookie jar, taking from our childrens piggy banks... need return full scale competitive with the rest of the world under free but fair trade.

“After all, the chief business of the American people is business. They are profoundly concerned with producing, buying, selling, investing and prospering in the world" Silent Cal.

If you fear competition, you are part of yesterday America.

Nice fantasy.

You're not going to like reality when you have to stop ignoring it.

Too too funny.

Your decoder ring doesnt come with a mirror, I see. Care to be specific on your reality so I can specifically throw it back in your face? You know, when I stop ignoring it.
