After five years of accusations, debates and deception the South Korean Intelligence Service has finally admitted that it acted to rig the 2012 General Election in favour of economic and political conservative interests. Under pressure from the Chaebols and the S. Korean political establishment the spy agency embarked upon an extensive and tech-savvy covert influence and psy-ops programme to discredit parties and candidates of the left and promoted conservative candidates aligned to the interests of the chaebols.

If in S. Korea, a close US ally, then could this be happening in the US? Perhaps the UK, or France? Is this a local problem or is it a cautionary tale for the wider world at large?

Cheers.

Not needed in the US. We have our selection options limited way down to just those who will "play ball" long before we even get a chance to make a choice.

IMO, it's been happening here since at least 1980. Why else would the term "liberal" have gained so much power as an insult?

Obvious it happens in Europe and USA. I think last elections in USA, France and Portugal have been rigged but is a crime without proof a crime? It is by nature but nobody is there to condemn it.
