President Obama to President Elect Trump North Korea is the single highest priority U.S. foreign policy issue

Pakistan is considered the only majority Muslim nation with a nuclear military arsenal. For years this was a point of heightened concern.

But that concern is now rivaled by the recently nuclearized North Korea.

IIIIIII Sanity Check IIIIIIIIIIIIIII

The Kim Jong dynasty seeks nuclear military capability for one overriding purpose: self-preservation.

HYPOTHETICAL:

If friends / allies of South Korea could temporarily capture KJU, and simply educate him to the following reality:

- He can try to muscle his way along, thereby placing himself at constant risk of military contest. OR ...

- He can enlighten up, start providing a standard of living in NK comparable to that experienced by the comparable peasants in China.

a) To actually do this could be quite risky. BUT !!

b) Doing so might help avoid a nuclear war in Asia, and perhaps the U.S. as well.

Should President Trump consider that option "on the table"?

Historic Note:
The French Revolution happened AFTER the reforms.
Relaxing KJU's iron grip on his People might well be suicidal for him. Is that reason enough he'd never consider it?

Or is it reduced to a gamble? Which is more likely?
- The West wiping NK out, or
- regime changing insurrection?
& KJU picks his poison?

I think President Trump has done a fine job on rallying China and Russia to put troops on the boarder and pressure Korea.

You mean Obama did the same as every U.S. president since (& including) Eisenhower?
But of those dozen U.S. commanders in chief, it's Obama that's the bad guy?

Sentences start with capital letters. Proper nouns are also capitalized. "Obama" is Barack Obama's last name, not first. "Hussien" is actually spelled Hussein and is Barack Obama's middle name, not his last. "And, not "n". "North Korea", not nk. "news", not "newks". Sentences still start with capital letters. "President", not "prez". "4" is a number, not a preposition. You wanted the word "for". "Doing", not "doin". Sentences end in periods.

What exactly do you think President Obama should have done about North Korea?

Yes!
Indeed President of the United States of America Obama did PRECISELY that, in Syria, with Assad.

a) Obama said use of chemical weapons would cross a red line. Obama never said: -and if Assad does, the U.S. will do x, y, & z. He simply called it a "red line".

b) After Assad used chemical weapons, Obama entrained Vlad Putin to Obama's purpose, and had Assad surrender his chemical stockpiles, and had them destroyed at sea.

President Obama earned his administration much praise for this skillful handling of such an issue; perhaps more skillful than any other elimination of WMD by any global leader in history.

Thank you jG for reminding us of this superlative Obama administration accomplishment.

Understood.

Republican apologists don't blame President Bush (younger) for the devastating terrorist attacks of 09/11/01. They blame President Clinton.

BUT !!

What they conveniently overlook is,
there's nothing President Clinton could have done to prevent the "9/11 attacks" in his last 6 months in office that
President Bush could not have done in his first 6 months in office.

But it's the long familiar Republican doublestandard.

When there's merit to be recognized, credit to be awarded, it goes to Republicans.
When there isn't, blame a Democrat.
