New Hong Kong politicians defy Beijing by raising independence issues during swear-in ceremony - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)
Three newly-elected Hong Kong MPs have been barred from the legislature after using a swearing-in ceremony to raise the contentious issues of independence and more democracy, highlighting growing defiance of Beijing.

The three are among a new generation in the city — which returned to Chinese rule in 1997 — demanding greater self determination, at least six of whom won seats in its 70-member legislature in an election last month.

Two of the new MPs pledged allegiance to a "Hong Kong nation" and displayed a "Hong Kong is not China" banner as they took their oath.

In response to their action, the head of the city's Legislative Council Secretariat said he had no authority to administer the oaths to Yau Wai-ching, 25, and Baggio Leung, 30.

Independence for Hong Kong and death to the communists!!!

I look forward to the day when the Taiwanese government can truly claim itself as the rightful government for all of China. That's the only reason why the US still supports Taiwan.

I am afraid the day is still a while off.

Not gonna happen unless the PRC implodes.

Those two imbeciles just f*cked up any chance of HK getting "1 person, 1 vote" universal suffrage for their CE / Mayor. Dumbf*cking morons.
